I use Photon Sabers, what guns are worth using? I went for the shield class after mastering Photons because I figured Cool Off would be really good, but I did Yelv's affinity quest and got the art that let's you swap TP and HP, and it feels like I don't need any non TP skills anymore.
Starlight Blade,Rondo, Blossom, Duster, and then Galactic Cataclysm as my offense, TP and HP swap art, Astral Heal, and then the aura that makes Astral Heal affect everyone. Is there a more optimal setup I should be aiming for? It feels like it works really well and I always have 6k TP to play around with at the start of every battle.

1. Shield Troopers/Bastion Warriors are the two Classes that let you use Shields as a weapon. They are also the only melee weapons that have reliable Topple Arts. Arts in this game are tied to your WEAPON, not your class.
2. Shield users are BUILT for absorbing damage, Toppling enemies (which interrupts their offense, "topple" over and do nothing for a few seconds or more), and for using Taunt to keep the enemy's attention on themselves. Not you. You can be free to run around and dish out damage.
3. L is really good about keeping Barriers up for the whole party, Lin is really good about healing the party, H.B. is bar FAR the best at drawing aggro. All three can Topple (Hell, H.B. has Wild Down AND Assault Hammer) and also have Arts that boost damage while enemies are toppled, extend that time via skills and can take a lot of damage before going down.
4. Also, there's no reason to never have H.B. on your team. He's amazing. He'll go valedictorian on you. How will he ever stop excelling. All his taunts and decoys are superior.
When it gets down to it, ONLY YOU, the player can do any meaningful damage to the enemy. Your teammates never ever get anywhere close to the amount of damage you can dish out. So, you choose members based on how well they can keep you safe and keep the enemy debuffed/inactive. The shield users are easily the best at that.
Finally, if you're a Skell nut and just use Skells for fighting like the pansy asses who do, then it doesn't really matter. Get Doug and Alexa and Yelv since they all have Skell-relevant skills.

2. Level your Class Rank to 10 to Master that class. (This is done by fighting, just like normal EXP).
3. Once you reach lvl 10 in that Class, you've Mastered it. All the Skills related to that Class you can now use regardless if you're using that Class or not. Similarly, you can now use those weapons regardless if your current Class is defined by those weapons or not.
For example: If you MASTER being a Drifter, you can now use the assault rifle and knives forever and ever, even if you're a Bastion Warrior. If you MASTER being a Duelist, you can change to being a Winged Viper and still use your Longsword if you like.

Yes. EXTREMELY marginally. It's irrelevant. It's will never be the difference between you winning or losing a battle.

Dunno if you noticed, but Duelist only lets you use 3 Skills. Drifter lets you use 5. There, what? 60 different Skills in this game? So, master your favorite Classes ASAP, then just spend the rest of the game mastering the ones you don't really care about just for funsies: you can still equip whatever weapon and skills you want. What Class you are is irrelevant. It's simply the genre's "barrier" to keep you choosing what Skills and Weapons you want at the start of the game.

There are other builds that can outdamage Blossom Dance Overdrive builds, you should know. The next most popular one relies on Boosting Thermal Gatling Gun damage through the fucking roof and using arts that hit a gajillion times. It's still an Overdrive build, though. All end-builds will be Overdrive. You can't pass that up. It's a 6x damage multiplier that refills your arts faster than you cumming in your mom and heals you at the same time, assuming you ever get hit.

Ghostwalker is a Green buff Art which doesn't cost TP to use.
Max upgraded, it will allow your character to avoid about a dozen attacks that should hit (may be less, I can't remember).
Since Ghostwalker is green and costs no TP, it's a cinch to put in your 8 slots, use to help activate Sould Voices/Challenges and in Overdrive lets you build meter without needing to worry as well as extends the duration of it.
To explain Overdrive/Blossom Dance...
Overdrive is your "Chain Attack" this game. Your "limit break" that enhances all your stats. It also GREATLY speeds ups your Art cooldowns, regardless if you're using the weapon the Art is tied to.
Furthermore, the large number in the center can raise untill MAX which is 100. At this point, all damage is multiplied by 6 and a plethora of other damage buffs/resistances.
It also can lead to more health regen during certain color combinations and an infinite amount of time spent without dropping out of Overdrive.
For reference, Blossom Dance does NOT rely on melee attack power at all. It is a TP Art. All TP Arts use the Potential stat as its modifier. The Potential stat is somewhat difficult to boost, but rather than Ranged or Melee attack stats that follow a nice line in damage output, Potential is a sharp curve. High Potential can make TP Arts devastating.
How does the Blossom Dance work?
1. You get LOTS of Potential. 300 is PLENTY to kill all superbosses, 500 is OP, 1000 will kill the World Nemesis hundreds of times over easily.
2. You fill up your other 8 Slots with Ghostwalker and Offensive Stance, then 5 Arts of your choosing. Mostly Melee Arts to build your meter, Primer to help gain TP faster.
3. Go into Overdrive and start using all your Arts once they hit their Tertiary cooldown. Using any Blue or Green Art (Offensive Stance, Primer, Ghostwalker) will extend your Overdrive time. Melee arts will build up the Overdrive count.
4. Unleash Blossom Dance.
5. Billions of damage.
6. Repeat.

Overdrive in skells boosts your stats by a certain ammount, depending on what frame you're using. I think it also reduces cooldown, but I've only really noticed it on the Ares 90.
It also increases the chances of going into cockpit mode.

Each Robot will only boost certain stats. It also doesn't give your Skell Arts Secondary or Tertiary Cooldowns. Some don't even speed 'em up.
Honestly? They aren't different. It's straight up worse. Maybe you'll get enhanced stats, maybe you'll go into Cockpit view more reliably. Maybe your appendages will heal upon activation by 15%.
On that note, there's no real reason to ever save Overdrive use in a Skell. Just use it.

Most just pick Heavy Armor for whatever has the most Potential Battle Traits on it or have half of every character wearing something with Treasure Hunter while they OHKO the same Tyrant over and over and over and over and over again hoping for a top level piece with 3 battle traits they want.
Also, light gear will give you the traits you're looking for BUT ALSO give you, like, 12 chances to upgrade each to XX level. Heavy only does 6 tries. That reason is why I feel light is better, IMO. Certainly worth the minor defense drop when you aren't even getting hit in the first place.

So I got to the point where I think I've completed all normal missions but I'm not at 100% in all the areas in NLA. I know 5 spaces are for Mia's heart to heart as she is the only one I haven't maxed out yet (I don't even know if she is needed for 100%, but her affinity mission is on the map so I guess it is).
