first of all, be aware that a newer version is coming to Steam in February
now to answer your question, go for tutorial mode first. Then pick a character (you can do a few challenges to check the playstyles of the ones you're insterested in)
after that you can go to training mode, start practicing your movement, bnbs and stuff

If you're interested in the story arcade has a few bits of dialogue that develops some stuff but the meat of it is in the story mode. Also, there's a prologue chapter in story mode that summarizes the first game

There usually are some pretty helpful blazblue help videos on YouTube but find a character you find fun and get use to the playstyle plus mechanics and once you feel comfortable watch combos online or practice challenge I would say hakumen would be easy to get into if you like to counter since 90% of his combos are off of drive counters also find someone like a friend who is at the same level to play with its boring playing alone
