I loved CoD4 at the time, but most people on this board see that game as the beginning of a major decline in multiplayer shooters, and they're right. The campaign is still a great ride to take every now and then, but multi on consoles is a joke at this point and the PC multi is pretty mod-reliant to continue enjoying at this point.

Hell yeah. I ended up getting it for around $10 and I think its really good. AW was very flawed but blops3 fixes the retarded bounce on hover jumping and tones it down so its a lot more tactical and takes some practice to use well.
Large variety in guns that are all viable, largest camo selection ever, tons of customization all around, maps are pretty decent, and theres also a new system where you pick a specialized soldier with their own special ability. Its cool I'm probably never going to buy a cod again and just sit on this one. Zombies is pretty good too I've played a bit, there's a good amount of content in the game overall

Some guns had their heyday like Model 1887s for a while, but it was always issues with certain perks that just brought the game into that weird state of "well it's balanced if you have this perk". I remember clamoring to get One Man Army and getting bored with it after a point because it just didn't even feel like I was competing on the same level as some people. Put more time into that than any other CoD multiplayer though.

AUG has more unpredictable recoil and also shoots slightly slower IIRC. I like the AUG more the Famas is easier to use but it sounds annoying. Almost every AR in BLOPS1 is great.

I almost always run Hardline so I can get constant UAVs or RC-XDs, or Flak Jacket when I'm trying to win objective gametypes, or Scavenger when I want to fuck around with explosives (not a lot of people know this but if you use Scavenger Pro and an RPG you get an extra RPG missile for a total of 3 instead of just two).
Then when you combine Scavenger Pro with Warlord Pro you can get 3 RPGs and two of any grenade. Scout was good for sniping, Steady Aim was good for any of the dual-wield weapons...

do you not remember the M60? That had 200 bullets with ext. mags, 100 regular. The HK21 may have only had 30 but add ext. mags for 60 and then you get a 60-shot full-auto gun that kills in 2-3 hits max with barely any recoil. underrated as fuck.

Noobtubes and quickscoping are one-trick pony tactics to utilize, and they rely immensely on building entire loadouts around those two to exploit (not so much with quick-scoping, but QSing isn't as overpowered as people make it out to be, or reliable). Commando Pro was ridiculous, but most of the perks felt perfectly balanced compared to other CoDs. Black Ops for example has perks and weapons that are obviously better than their peers, and so you'd be sticking with the optimal loadout as opposed to mix-matching for the most overpowered loadout like in MW2.
MW2 gets shit for Commando Pro plenty, but it was never as universally utilized as Martyrdom in CoD 4 or Second-Chance in Blops.
RC XD is just for fun. It's pretty gud for killing tryhard campers, they get real salty after dying to an RC.

I rarely see many people use SC in BLOPS1. Ninja, Marathon, Hacker and even Tactical Mask are all much more useful.
In every CoD game there is a setup that works with almost any gun. That's just how it is. Black Ops has plenty of viable ways to mix and match though. The one thing that is consistent is people using SoH and claymores. Other than that you can go wild.
MW2 probably had the most *variety* in terms of pure options, but this came at the expense of certain setups being so absurdly overpowered that they broke the game. As other people pointed out, the only thing that was really broken about BLOPS1 was the Famas.
What exactly is the hacker situation with the CoD 4 and WaW right now? I haven't played them in quite a while and I've been craving for them, but if there are too many hackers I might pass.
