A bunch of strategy games, like total war games. In those games wars are started because you hate people based why they're different from you, or simply cause you want to expand for the sake of wealth or just power for the sake of power. Majority of the process of war is just preparations, and the process of creating the infrastructure to wage war. Most the war is just shifting around trying to find openings by which to slaughter each other, and ultimately, when battles occur, after years of just marching around, you send thousands upon thousands of men to slaughter each other in the blink of an eye.

mgs4 actuall had an interesting approach to war. not so much at a micro level (views/effects of war in civilians and soldiers), but at a macro level (war as a sustainable economy, fought by proxy corporations).
