Monitor aspect ratios

no because devs these days cant be arsed to optimize their game if your setup deviates from the norm. chance is that 90% of new games will not work if you dont have 16:9

Been using a 16:10 monitor for 3.5 years. Never had a SINGLE game not work because of it.

Absolute worst case scenario is running the game in a 16:9 window, which doesn't impact the experience at all. All games with graphics that make you care about using every pixel you have support 16:10.

That said, I don't know if "should" is the right wording. 16:9 and 16:10 are both fine. Get the best value monitor you can, don't worry about aspect ratio.

I've had 16:10 (1920x1200) monitor since 2009, and had zero issues.

On the contrary: I can play at ANY aspect ratio, with minimal stretching or black bars if I so choose. 16:9 resos look fine on the screen, and 4:3 don't look as tiny as on the 16:10 screens.
