Thinking of how hype some moments in a game get, how much fun and adoration you get out of a game...Tetris doesn't give any of that. Its on par with simple phone games. Its nothing outstanding. It has no flaws as far as what it intends to be, but it has nothing that makes it outstanding. A good game with flaws is better than a mediocre to bad game with no flaws. I enjoy plenty of vidya. Its about a kid that falls into a cave full of monsters that are trapped in there and needs to find his way back out. You play this kid and traverse this monster-ridden cave looking for a way out while the monsters inside in most cases try to kill you. In the process of escaping, you may find out why. When you enter battle with a monster, you can attack it in a standard fashion or negotiate with it ala SMT demon negotiation, only negotiations are more of a puzzle in themselves, as you must figure out what the monster wants to hear. Every time you mess up or don't end the battle (either by killing it or appeasing it), you must dodge their attacks in a sort of schmup style combat, but without the ability to shoot back.
In between all this you might find strange and humorous things, or maybe you'll find yourself thoroughly spooked and caught into the atmosphere of things. It goes back and forth between serious and comedic.

Undertale is only good because it parodies what games these days are doing today. It never laid any foundation or is pioneering a new genre of video games. It is also not refining anything in terms of what is established.
Games like Super Mario 64 on the other hand laid down what would be 3D gaming. More specifically platforming. But since we're talking about 21st century, Dark and Demon Souls brought back and refined the old school adventure games. It can stand on it's own and the games don't need more context other than itself to fully appreciate it. Undertale can't do that. You absolutely need to know who EA and Ubisoft are in order to fully appreciate it.
But we all know Animal Crossing is the best video game of all time. No matter what you say.

Shadow of the Colossus especially so. Its a great game but SotC's gameplay is really fucking awful. Traveling throughout an empty landscape with no music for about 5 minutes before getting into a boss fight where half of them are just climb on top, stand when you're about to lose your grip, and stab is really fucking boring.

But I've played plenty of JRPGs anon. And tropes don't necessarily make something bad, and you have the problem of only seeing the boss fight/boss dialogue. As such, you don't have any of the tension or buildup, nor have you gotten the chance to get to know each of the characters. That in turn weakens the impact of it. Watching a single boss fight is hardly representative of what something actually feels like. Execution is extremely important too. The fact that you would do this and make assumptions about it without taking that into account makes it seem as if YOU haven't played any JRPGs anon. You should know better.

But Nier's gameplay is like if you took Zelda, but made it harder, made you be able to run faster, and took away lock-on, all while making more of your magic abilities actually useful in combat.
