The first was a more solid single player experience and the multi-player service was awful making it a bad multi-player experience.

Got this as a gift recently, what should I expect? It's my first time playing this kind of game, never really played topdown dungeon crawler stuff before.

game was perfectly fine and I've played it for 3 months with every class and dropped after that.

lots of skills. doesn't matter which character you use. play singleplayer for the story and so you know how to play. switch to mulitplayer if you don't mind story and just want to grind and get new items.
It's killing, leveling, loot dropping, gem crafting.
Fun game but gets too convoluted with mobs in the later stages, just like every other arpg.
