How do normies play video games, /v/? A normie is in my house as I type this, playing Yoshi's Wooly World. She's taking at least double the time it would take me to finish a level, and she's only getting half of the yarn/flowers/extra shit. She says she likes games, but how can spending so much time with so little progress be rewarding enough to want to continue gaming?

Maybe she's having...fun.
It may seem like an alien concept to you, but there are people that actually enjoy playing video games.

I enjoy video games greatly, but it's the feeling of accomplishment once I'm done that is enjoyable. She takes eight tries to do what is doable in two, it just seems like the work put in is too tedious to be enjoyable.

If she's having fun, let her have fun. She'll get the hang of it.
If our definition of normie is just someone who's not as good at every game as we are, then we have fucked up standards

> female in house
> taking time to come to 4chan instead of fucking said female
> bitches about said female's lack of gaming ability
I bet your parents don't wear seatbelts on their way to work in the morning hoping that they'll die in a car wreck just to get away from their autistic faggot of a son.

I just let her be. She ended up quitting the game and she's on her way home. I do agree with what you say about our fucked up standards, though.

Maybe she isn't very good? That could be why she's taking so long. Skill doesn't really affect how much fun you have though.
She could also just not care about 100% completion or high scores. I personally couldn't care less about them and just play the game.

Well let's look at it this way.
When I play a harder game or some older game it takes me 6 - 10 tries to beat some things. I'm losing but I'm still motivated because it's a complex task and I enjoy the effort spent to do it. I learn as I play and get better with each attempt. It makes it rewarding but more importantly enjoyable to do once mastered.
For her, being new to games I assume, tasks that are easy for you are difficult and complex for her. So she likely gets the same feeling out of it. She is constantly learning and getting better and that feels good.
Essentially I think she is going through the same process as you and I would go through but she is learning more rudimentary/elementary skills than what we are at the time.
