I think digimon could be cool but it always lacked internal consistency as to make it competent with pokemon. We dont know how many digimons are there, how their evolution works and all in all, theres no consensus on what a digimon game is about. Pokemon was vidya from start, so as a result videogames are more solid. No matter how "shitty" each iteration is, pokemon is already fun.

I didn't play much of it, but I didn't like what I played. The biggest issue with it is that you barely have any control in combat. It appears and seems like it'll get better over time, but from what I played all you can really do is suggest what your Digimon does. Its also extremely hard to get your Digimon to like you at first, and if you level it up enough with it not liking you it'll turn into a shitty Digimon with no obvious way of changing it back.
Digimon can talk and have personalities, making them characters and thus it's hard to really like them. Also why are all baby digimon blobs?
Pokemon are, for the most part, very obviously animals and are pets, making them easy to like and more enjoyable to collect.
It's impossible for Digimon to every overtake Pokemon.

It's not hard train it, feed it, don't let it shit on the ground. If you need ore control of it during battles train it's intelligence to be able to use more commands. It's pretty in depth and awesome once you get the hang of it

digimon world 2 was the best digi vidya to ever come out. Very grind heavy, lots of opportunity to catch, fight, and train. And the dungeon crAwl was top tier. It's a shame that nothing like that ever came back.

Digimon is ok but the games are as bad as the anime, inconsistent, always trying to be different and yet somehow fucking everything up. I don't know how Pokemon does it but it actually TAKES away features in the next iteration and still does better. Face it OP, Digimon is not superior.
