The HD ports are gorgeous! Easily one of the best HD remasters ever.
The originals ain't bad, but it's always a pleasure to play them at HD resolutions, real widescreen, and at fairly steady 60fps (compared to PS2's MGS3:S' jumpy 30).
PS3 also has the MGS Legacy Collection, which has ALL the MGS games from the vevy first Metal Gear from 1987, to PW HD.
obviously it goes without saying that you should play the games in release order, starting with the MGS1. it has fine summaries of the 8-bit MG1 & 2 in its mainmenu.
