are there any games with realistic damage? i hate when i swing my sword at an opponent, at best all they do is flinch and then carry on as if nothing happened. or shoot somebody in the face, but it didn't take off all their hp so they're still completely mobile.
the one game that i've experienced something similar to what i want was batman arkham city, when you fought the clay people with a sword and you 1 hit them. that was the best feeling ever, are there any games where the entire thing is like that?

This and I'd say monster hunter has good damage mechanics.

"Realistic"
Star Wars Jedi Academy
If you get hit by a lightsaber you die no questions asked. Combat consists of blocking hits until one of you runs out of stamina.

what about getting shot in the face?

Alternatively, Revengeance with Grey Fox's sword.

I don't play with uncivilized weapons like blasters so I couldn't tell you.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on the hardest difficulty.
You shoot someone in the head with a shotgun or sniper rifle? They're down, buddy.
You get shot down in the head with a shotgun or sniper rifle? You're dead, m8.
Dead Island
I wouldn't say it's a realistic game, but the combat system is very melee-oriented and enemies tend to react accordingly to limb-based damage
no, Nintendo 64-tier animations are the last remaining bottleneck for games. People would rather have fancy wall textures than good animations. Live with it

Overgrowth uses a skeleton based damage system, but it's early ass and probably will be forever.

if dragon fights were like typing of the dead i would have loved skyrim

Exanima.
I've already got my moneys worth of it but it's early access. Go for the warhammer if you get it

Bushido Blade
>eternal darkness
>vindictus
>shadow warrior remake
There are a few here and there but don't go expecting too much

>tfw you play surgeon with a shotgun in cod waw
>>321754365
It's not quite what you're asking for, but War Thunder's good with that.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
Also, grab the Black Knight mod and you can join games where you can swing your sword and sever limbs off of people and bleed to death.
>>321754725
>monster is angry
>rush at you with enough force to destroy rocks
>you fly for a meter or 2, roll twice and get up like nothing happened

Is that Vindictus?
Chivalry Medieval Warfare has combat that allows you to dismember and kill with one blade stroke.

Yea, probably the best game I've played from a gameplay point of view
It's just so smooth and reactive and it feels so good
>>321755010
As someone who doesn't usually play on hard would you recommend that for STALKER? Seems like it would be the most authentic experience, being that the enemies wouldn't be bullet sponges like in other games
ArmA, Dwarf Fort, Space Station 13.
None of them are fully realistic, but they do a good job.
>>321756470
Absolutely. I think the difficulty is called "realistic" or something like that.
>>321755826
>those guts and bloody stumps
oh yeah, the good memories
MGRR
>>321756313
It's far from realistic though.

Fucking Dragon's Dogma.
with 2 handed swords you can do shit like slice the head and tail off a manticore with one swing.
Red Orchestra 2 has best realism as far as shooters go.
Dwarf Fortress has best realism out of all games ever.
>>321758925
>dragon's dogma
As much as I like the game that is entirely wrong, enemies don't react at all to whatever you're throwing at them physically
>>321754365
Titan Souls isn't realistic but it is fairly unique. Everything dies in one hit, and you're fighting giant boss monsters constantly. Landing that one hit becomes the challenge.

>Dwarf Fortress has best realism out of all games ever.
>can split a lion in two by throwing another lion at it, assuming you're /fit/ enough
>realism
