it was a great time for my age group.
we got the NES/SNES/Gen/GB when we were young. all those old games from nes that were still fun. SNES brought some of the games that would define that generation and influence games from then on. to this day people still want to capture that magic of game play and story. pokemon hit the scene. blew our fucking minds. a hand held rpg this fucking good? my god.
then as we turned to preteens we got the ps1/n64 amazing systems. game changers. OoT changed the way action/adventure 3d games are made. FF7 took the classic style of older RPGs and dragged it in to modern times.it worked wonderfully. the goofy off center humor. the mix of jap and western story/art styles.list can go on and on.
then as we turned to teenagers ps2/XB/GC/DC came out. now the consoles started to give us more to do. be it internet with the dreamcast or dvds with ps2/xb and later their internet as well. they brought in normies. the games are the bases for all modern gaming. the watered down fps. qte. cinematic games. it started to become cool to be a gamer.
as we became adults last gen came. we came from the highest highs. we saw the terrible things getting by. normies and fanboys just accepted it. changed gaming for the worse. the systems(not wii) and some of the games are great in that gen, but dlc, poor launches, and a chain of terrible cash grab games have caused many to become jaded.
almost makes me think if there is not a change there will be another crash.
