Bullets apply a fraction of force against ubered targets as well (some weapons do, I don't think shotguns do).
Basically the more people/sentries you have trained on an uber couple, the less likely they are to push through your entire line.

The mantreads speed buff is one I've been supporting forever. It's not even good for Trolldier, as the BASE Jumper trivializes market gardening and there is no reason to not use it. I stick to mantreads but suffer compared to BASE Jumpers. The movement speed buff is really great because it changes how much your rocket jumping affects you, letting you jump higher. At least, I believe that is what causes it and not just what class you are.
