Easily the most disappointing part of XCX coming from XC is the music. I don't even hate the NLA night theme, the day theme is extremely grating and the main battle theme is awful.
Tracks that play just out on the different continents and in caves are good, though they are a bit short and repetitive considering the areas are so huge.
Also there's no sound options and the music drowns out dialogue, even in cutscenes.

Music is something that its ok to say has improved over time. even the older music sounds better on newer hardware. the best older songs really pushed the limits of their hardware, like Wily's Castle in Mega Man 2, or Streets of Rage on Genesis. FF6 on the SNES, i have no idea how Uematsu did it.
