GG has almost always been better though. What's your point? Street fighter has always been slower. Speed doesn't necessarily mean better, but in GG's case it has a lot of other things going for it. Blazblue is faster than SF but I'd hardly say that its better.

I really enjoyed playing CVS2 at the Whimsey arcade in Stockton, CA. That machine was always packed and there was always competition. Sadly, the arcade had to close because the owner got sick.
The game is a blast to play casually, its a new experience with every opponent, every opponent has a different groove, team, strategies, and combos- so no two opponents are alike. While in SF4 a lot of opponents play very similarly and use the same combos.
I never bothered with the professional scene, but CVS2 can be a mess with all the glitches, roll cancels, and imbalance, it has a boss syndrome where many of the boss characters like Sagat and Geese become too powerful.
CVS2 still has the best memories of any fighting game for me. And I'd love to see a CVS3.

I like GG, my point is that SFIV and someone SFV are even slower than their predecessors, and they are truly slow, especially SFV. It feels like playing MK at half the speed or Brawl, it's weirdly and stupidly slow for a fighting game. There are also a lot of technical issues wrong with the game too. Especially with how the V-System and sitting in block stun works, it takes away from what makes fighting games feel so great, the combos and system breaking.

I believe Yahtzee's description of Chris Redfield in RE5 also applies to Ryu in SFIV. He looks like a hulked up refrigerator with a geopet on top of it. A lot of the SF cast in general look like that with the new artstyle. I'm not sure why Capcom insists on making most characters look like that now.

You try to pull that shit off randomly against normal play without anticipating any specific attack (unlike the situation with a super), and you'll just get knocked out of it by a follow up attack.

If you increase the sprite size, you need more frames to make things fluid. Doubled the size? Four times the frames and so on. What happens with lazy HD revamps is that they don't put new frames there, usually by limitations of the effort they're willing to pull.
