It would probably be fine, it's not unwelcoming to beginners and you don't need to have played any other games to get into it.
Just don't assume it reflects the series as a whole, though it's still decent in its own right.
It has some major flaws that other entries don't have (like the shitty arbitrary difficulty in some places) so if you hate it don't let it put you off trying the others out later.

Armor actually matters if you dont want to be dodging every single attack. I liked to play as a tank with Velstadt's armor, the great lance and huge ass shield. My rolls were shit but it didnt matter for my build.

Armor being useless is blatantly untrue, it mitigates quite a bit of damage, and being able to take extra hits is always good.
Whenever someone says "you can just need x with 100% success rate so you don't need y" you probably shouldn't take it seriously. Especially in PvP that's not definately not how it works.

let enemies attack first and block/dodge before you attack until you are more familiar with the game. also, watching your stamina bar is very important
