I've been rewatching The Wire over the holidays and it's got me in the mood for some good police vidya. What are some games where I can play as a cop, /v/? LA Noire is an obvious one
>>
Season 4 was the shit.

I also intend to watch that new HBO mini series by Simon. You seen it yet?

now watch The Shield, the superior cop show
>>
>>321678959

No, what's it about?

I just might

Wolf Among Us, but it's just an interactive movie.

Still worth the 5 bucks or whatever it costs on Steam at the moment...

True Crime New York City
Sleeping Dogs to some point
Arma 3 mods

You guys wanna tell me briefly why is it superior and what it's about?
>>
>>321678597

Are there any games where you play as a drug dealer and your purpose is to start from lowly corner kid to high kingpin?
>>
>>321679556

>This one over here is going right up your narrow fuckin Irish ass and this bad boy here is in your fuckin eye
>>
>>321680194
It's The Wire for the Breaking Bad audience. It's a good show but too "entertainment" focused to be superior to The Wire.

On the plus side it had a good final season whereas The Wire finished on a low.

from Google:

>Vic Mackey is a rogue cop in an experimental division of the Los Angeles Police Department, willing to sink to the criminals' level in order to take them on -- but his misdeeds eventually come home to roost. He breaks the law to, in his mind, bring some semblance of order to a chaotic world.

It also has one of the best TV endings ever, second only to Six Feet Under.

Season 2 is the best btw.
>>
>>321681053
Goddamn I'd watch it then but seven fucking seasons...
>>
>>321681171
Anybody who actually understands the show knows this. Problem is most of the fanbase are redditors who only watch the show because television bloggers tell them it's good and they like to feel hip and trendy watching a "black people" show so once the novelty of "DA STREETS" "MUH WMD" "MUH OMAR" is gone they get bored quickly. If you can't see that season 2 was by far the best then congratulations, you were viewing the show on the most superficial level possible and have zero real appreciation for quality television. You weren't watching The Wire, you were merely watching the meme of The Wire.
>>
>>321680804

Looks pretty good, I'll check it out
Also Lester showed up for a sec there, good shit
>>
>>321681053
I don't remember the ending anon, correct me if im wrong. The ending was that he sells out his own unit?
>>
>>321681182
It seems pretty shitty on first impression but it gets better as it goes on. Season 1 has some really cringey musical choices. They unironically use a Kid Rock song in the pilot episode.
>>
>>321681391
agreed. I've heard people try to say season 5 is better than 2. The show kinda jumps the shark around then.

fucking leddit, i swear
>>
>>321681391
>I'm a faggot and anyone who disagrees with me is a redditor!
As expected from /v/
It's the best season but you can go fuck yourself, Ziggy.
>>
>>321680693
Too bad the final season was the only good one.
>>
>>321681656
Ziggy is a well written character and anybody who thinks otherwise is a child.
>>
>>321681482

Vic sells out the strike team in order to get immunity and avoid jail, but ends up working a desk job and is hated by all his co-workers and is unperson'd by all the other cops
>>
>>321681705
If you're talking about The Shield then I thought season 5 was strong too. I enjoyed Forrest Whitakers character.
>>
>>321681760
>no implications that anyone thinks that Ziggy is poorly written
>still sperg about it
You're even more of a faggot than he was
>>
>>321680693
The Wire is literally the first show every pleb watches after finishing Breaking Bad.
>>
>>321681760
Where did I imply anything about character writing?
>>
>>321681890
So i remember right then, it's good writing even tho i would have enjoyed a ending where he didn't do that.
>>
>>321681958
If you watched Breaking Bad before The Wire then you can't have been into the television game for very long.
>>
Are the Police Story games any good?
>>
>>321681890
Well now that you told this, I think Justified had a better ending when it comes to cop dramas.
>>
>>321683448
Yeah, well I guess that's justified
>>
>>321681958
That's because most people got a small taste of what good television writing is with BB. Anybody who reads or has decent comprehension knows that Breaking Bad is facebook-tier pleb shit.

Anybody else watching this? Pretty damn interesting, cool mix of literary drama and magical realism.
>>
>>321683959
fuck magical realism tbqh.

I got sick of that shit in school.
>>
Blade Runner the PC game is probably the best detective-type game ever, if that's the kind you're looking for.
>>
>>321683959

I very vague remember the definition for Literary Drama, but the fuck is Magical Realism?
>>
>>321684220

Cool, I'll check it out. Thanks
>>
>>321684450
It would have been quicker for you to google "magical realism" then it would have been to type that post.

But to answer your question, magical realism is edgy shit for fedoras to seem deep.

>From the director of Crash
Wait wait wait... which Crash?
>>
>>321680194
It's not superior in any way, just full of shock value and inbred retards killing minorities. It tickles their trailer trash sensibilites, so they pretend it's the better show.
When someone picks The Shield over The Wire, you can safely disregard them as pleb mouthbreathers.
>>
>>321684450
Its basically fiction that could take place if it werent for one element of "magic" in the story. Just a little element of fantasy in an otherwise normal story. Think Groundhog Day or Midnight in Paris.

>>321684635
You're honestly a bit of a faggot
>>
>>321684848
Nevermind, I thought they actually got Cronenberg to direct, but it's the oscarbait Crash. Still, kind of interesting.

>Watch The Wire at age 11.
>Love it, hooked on the show, watch every new episode the night it airs
>Say it's my favorite show for years
>Skip ahead a decade
>discover 4chan and have my eyes opened to the truth of black inferiority and jewish corruption.
I'm scared to go back to this show now, when I first watched it I was ignorant and impressionable, but now I have my eyes open I just know it will be "dindu: the show" blaming everything on white institutions and blacks having philosophical dialoges on street corners with deep metaphors and shit rather than just screaming "muhfugga" and shooting each other.

I've come to realize that all television is incredibly entry level. Even the best of "prestige" television. Maybe Sopranos might seem like some challenging shit if all you've ever watched is reality television but if you're decently versed in movies (not even art movies, just quality mainstream cinema from the last 40 years) then all TV has a very low barrier of entry.

No shit, it's not like the entire point of television is accessibility or anything

>it's not like the entire point of television is accessibility or anything
Then it seems like a bad medium to go to if you want anything of true quality. Sopranos seems like some crazy accident. All of the "good" shows of the last decade have been pretty fucking bad.
>>
battlefield hardline

surprisingly, it's a good game.
>>

I liked Season 3 because of the political intrigue.

Season 2 was a little weak. Eventhough it's got that Eastern Bloc connection.

There is literally nothing wrong with that. You can get more raw reality from a week on 4chan than you can from a year of existing day to day in the outside world. There you may get a hint of what's really going on a few times a week, but here it is mainlined directly into your eyes nonstop.
