SAO isn't the best abridged series but it gets credit for fixing some of the biggest things wrong with the original. Downplaying the harem aspects and actually adding depth to the characters are nice touches. Hell, it actually works as a good coming-of-age story for Kirito this time. He actually has character development in SAO:A.
