come share your tips and builds.
Been playing for about 40 minutes as a demolitionist and it's pretty fun. How exactly does devotion work? I cant seem to put any points anywhere. Any constellations you like?
>>321666468
Where the fuck do I get dynamite?
I really like this video game, I'm playing a Blademasternot edgy i swear
>>321666468
>How exactly does devotion
You activate shrines, those give you neutral points.
Start in the middle at the compass thing and put a point there.
Completing constellations makes your devotion to different colored points go higher, you don't spend those but you need a certain amount of different colored points to get at the high level devotions
is the game complete? i've owned it for months but i thought they hadn't finished yet or something
is it better than titan quest?
Ya'll niggas postin in a shill thread
does melee suck dick in this game like every other hack and slash?
>>321667678
>acting black on the internet
>talking about video games is shilling
le kill yourself
>>321667604
The content is complete, all that's left is balancing.
What class goes good with an occultist summoner? I'm thinking Shaman since they get more pets.
>>321667436
Thanks! didnt even try to put a point in the middle compass. Will try that!
>>321667883
Another thing to remember is that some of the constellations are self sustaining or bring plenty of points themselves, so you may be able take some points back, from earlier constellations that you needed to reach them, if you want to put them somewhere else.
>>321667219
From Old Arkovia.
It's guaranteed to be in the mines there, think it can drop from some bosses there as well.
bruno please go
>demo+occultist
>max firshot and hellhound
>get wrecked
Did i just choose a bad build, cause my blademaster is wrecking everything;
what are good classes to combine with soldier?
What goes well with an Arcanist AAR chaos build? Occultist? Demo?
Is this an RPG where the RPG means branching storyline and dialogue choices, or an RPG where the RPG means a bunch of numbers to play around with?
>>321669310
It's like Diablo 2.
>>321669301
occultist has some neat spells that mesh well with arcanist. From my experience demo doesn't really compliment arcanist or occultist.
Can't play because game doesn't recognize my laptop graphics card
>>321669310
It's a Diablo
So far there has been some choice stuff in the side quests though e.g. kill this man or let him live, trust this cook or nah, import this blacksmith back to your settlement or take away his hammer to give it to his apprentice
>>321669646
I can't play because I don't have it
>>321666468
This shit is still early access after years, why? Is it even worth it?
>>321671665
It's content complete, they are doing polishing til February
>>321668971
I've been going demo+shaman for the Briarthorn, and I've lost like 3 characters.
The first 2 were because I went to the cultist lair and got my shit pushed in at level 24 by the boss.
Is the hellhound that much better than the briarthorn?
I picked this up with a friend, I'm going shaman/soldier melee build, he's doing demo and something else ranged.
>>321667821
Shaman of course, the mixed class name is Conjurer if I'm not wrong, so yeah, that is the "summoner" mix. But to be honest I miss the fire/nature summoner from titan quest, at least the summons were stronger.
>>321672748
>shaman/soldier
so I guess you are going two-handed
>>321672530
You mean as a summon? Nope, the briarthorn is better, it is the "tank" pet, attacks slower but deals more damage each hit and has more hp. The hellhound is the dps pet, and the crow is the support pet.
The only good thing at the first levels for the hellhound is that each time it kills an enemy, the normal attack doesn't have a cooldown, so if I can ohk a group of enemies he will attack like a machinegun. Unless that's a bug, but the briarthorn can't do that.
>>321667769
Wanna know this too
How's the combat?
>>321673094
Fuck year, 2hs are great. Probably grab a lot of passive from soldier, plus blitz or the cleave move, and the lightning shit from shaman.
>Discover Dahlia Taverin's corpse
>Loot a pair of pants from the corpse
I don't remember rolling such a deviant character. Also how viable is a 50/50 dual class build?
>>321673419
Have you played titan quest? It is EXACTLY like titan quest.
>>321674196
>how viable is a 50/50 dual class build
anon what
>>321674375
Splitting points evenly between two classes. Like a level 20 Nightblade/level 20 Soldier for example.
>>321674686
why exactly do you think they give you two classes
if i want to build a demolitionist, should I put my points in cunning? or where?
>>321674686
Nothing stopping you from doing it but you'd be better off aiming for specific skills rather than cutting it at 50(50.
>need 46 devotion points to get my tier 3 constellation
>only 45 points to the end of Elite
>can't beat the boss
fug
Should I get grim dark or torchlight II, /v/? I can't decide.
>>321676478
Have you played Titan Quest or the first Torchlight?
Is there a torrent? Normally I'd buy it sight unseen due to liking Titan Quest but I hear this game has weird issues with higher-range graphics cards and I have a memecard (970).
>>321676652
Sadly no. I'm pretty new to the genre, if that helps with the recommendation.
>>321676478
I found Torchlight 2 incredibly boring, enjoying Grim Dawn more, though PoE is a nice in between since it's free.
>>321677080
I also have a 970 and I haven't had any graphical issues. It did crash the other night, but I think that was due to repeated alt-tabbing.
>>321676478
First, play TitanQuest.
Then Grim Dawn.
Then Path of Exile.
Don't play Torchlight 2.
>>321677302
I'd say TL2 is more beginner friendly. Grim Dawn can be pretty brutal to new players.
>>321677302
Play Titan Quest before Grim Dawn to see if you like it, it's a good video game and very cheap on sale.
Torchlight 1 is alright, 2 is much better although I still don't love it.
With those two it's a Diablo 1/2 equivalent where in T1 your descend deeper and deeper down into a dungeon while 2 has an overworld map with different dungeons you explore
>>321677557
What I heard around is that it actually runs worse on some modern cards than old ones, not any specific graphical bug.
>>321677302
>>321677570
TL2 is also very moddable and has a lot of extra classes, items and such you can get. Def a good one to bro-op
>>321677775
Ah, I can't say I've noticed anything adverse. But I'm only one person. I would imagine there's a Torrent on Kat, but it might be an update or two behind.
>>321677451
>>321677565
>>321677570
>>321677674
>>321677840
If I have a chance to get both, should I do it?
You can make pretty much any build work if you take the time to figure out how to maximize the output you're getting from each skill.
>>321678193
Yes. They are different enough to enjoy both.
>>321678193
If you don't have a friend to play with, you could probably skip tl2. I still liked it solo, but grim dawn is probably a better solo game. Both are better with at least 1 partner though.
>>321678321
Wow.
Those are straight up Titan Quest skill trees.
>>321678443
A bunch of my friends have it, I'm sure at least one would be willing to go back, especially if it's as moddable as everyone says
>>321678541
That might be because it's a sequel to Titan Quest
is this game better than Path of Exile? Why/why not?
>>321678624
>sequel to Titan Quest
I don't think you know what a sequel means.
>>321678541
Not exactly. TQ didn't have optional transmutors that change the way a skill works (like adding cooldown and making a skill hit harder, changing lightning damage to vitality, etc).
>>321678851
Titan Quest II: Son of Typhon (and Hades).
>>321678851
I don't think you know what a English means
>>321678541
It's the same engien, anon.
>>321669301
Heartily recommend Occultist, because Chaos Ray is fucking awesome. Works well with Curse of Frailty to slow people down, Solael's Witchfire with Second Rite for bonus damage, and Sigil of Consumption for life leech.
>>321678193
Torchlight 2 is an enjoyable enough game and there's a shitload of mods out there to improve the experience. Grim Dawn is an entirely different beast. I'd say get both if you can, but if it's one or the other, Grim Dawn all the way.
>mfw Demolitionist+Nightblade
Oh baby
>>321666468
The game started out very slow, but I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought. Ending up building a thorns/retaliation based Soldier, I melt everything pretty easily except for 1v1 boss fights.
>>321680261
I did that with two Flamebrands.
>>321675140
Which constellation are you aiming for?
Torchlight loot is fucking shit. Anything else is fine though.
>>321681346
Speaking of loot and shit, look at what I just found!
I also got some cool boots that make the ground fire where I walk earlier
>>321681674
I literally just got those pants a couple of hours ago.
And I've been throwing feces at everything since.
>>321681674
well shit
>>321681331
wolf
Are there any super tanky classes/builds? I had fun doing that in titan quest.
>>321681346
Kinda agree. For some reason, I never thought the uniques/sets in T1 or T2 were memorable, maybe because I ended up switching items pretty fast and they somehow didn't feel embedded into the setting. D2 items and sets were kinda iconic and I remember some of them to this day. Some GD uniques also managed to give me that "part of the lore" feeling and I've been using some for quite a while, so I end up thinking of it as special. Not sure what made the difference compared to T1/2 in my mind. Maybe I need to revisit Torchlight and give it another chance.
One thing I miss from Torchlight is the functionality of the pet. Even though it doesn't cost much time to teleport back and sell random shit, it was cool to be able to send your pet to do it for you, while you keep whacking away. Even better that it was transmutable into other forms with caught fish. I wouldn't mind if other ARPGs copied that idea shamelessly. Hell, imagine you could develop your pet statistics by feeding it (tons of) components or give it temporary abilities or boosts (resistances abilities etc.). Feed a completed cold heart to your hound and it temporarily changes into an ice version and freezes shit, etc. It would be another way to use up all those trash components you end up finding.
It's this game a pure clicky click lootfest like Diablo 3 or does it have meaningful quests and things like that?
>>321683265
It's like PoE and D3 had a baby. It's got a good mix of both games.
Aren't they all clicky loot fests?
>>321683265
Clicky lootfest might as well the the label on the whole genre.
>>321678541
aren't both games made by the same devs?
I think I fucked up, on a 2handed lightning build, I dumped almost all of my points into Phy/Spirit and nothing into Cunning. Now at lvl 45, I am finding myself missing quite a lot and critting never, thus invalidating the Tempest constellation entirely. What do?
>>321683823
your char is kill
>>321683823
reset all skills and make a build that fits more with phy/spirit
>>321683251
Dungeon siege 2 had something like that
you're pet companions would level with you, but you could raise them a "stage" by feeding them items, and depending what you fed them would raise their stats, e.g. melee weapons would increase attack, staffs would increase int, health potions: health, mana potions: mana etc tec
>>321683823
If you want to wait a few levels you can pump cunning and invest mastery in a class that gives a good cunning bonus.
Or you could just respec your skills and devotions, it's cheap as fuck.
>>321684125
Are the Dungeon Siege games any good?
>>321684321
Dungeon Siege 2 is god damn fantastic and one of my favorite games of all times. Never played 1 and 3 is a barely playable game with good writing.
http://grimcalc.com/build/FWsXoz
There's my build so far, someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
I feel like I might be putting points into too many abilities.
>>321668971
Demo is squishy as fuck, especially with another squishy class such as occulist.
>>321679134
>a English
Here's your (You)
>>321679064
Geez I wish. Immortal Throne was just more of the same.
>>321683243
shield soldier is gr8. my friend has 97% block chance, and when he blocks he shoots d2 hammers and gets a barrier. hes pretty unkillable, and the hammers are amazing for groups
>>321684457
I don't have any specific criticisms but you do seem to be spreading yourself mighty thin.
>>321667782
>literally couldn't be any newer
>>321684561
>Immortal Throne was just more of the same
Might be because it's an expansion to Titan Quest
Those tend to be similar to the main game
I'm thinking about buying this but the download says its only 2 gigabytes.. seems kinda small, I cant imagine there being much content in 2 gigabytes unless the textures are complete and utter garbage.
>>321683240
Mogdrogen the Wolf? I don't know what build you're aiming for, but you could theoretically get to it with following constellations:
Falcon: 3 Eldritch/3 Ascendant
Eye of Guardian: 3 Eldritch/3 Ascendant
Spider: 6 Eldritch
Hawk: 3 Eldritch
Anvil: 5 Ascendant
Hammer 4 Ascendant
That's 26 devotion points to unlock Mogdrogen and another 6 to fill the wolf constellation, ending up with 32 points you'd need. And Falcon, Eye and Anvil also give you new abilities you can level up as a bonus.
I'm probably retarted but how do you summon something as occultist?
Just started and invested some points but its not letting me summon.
>>321684737
just downloaded it today and everything looks great! get it
>>321684824
left or rightclick one of your empty skill slots, you can put a skill in there and then summon your pets
When the fuck is it gonna be released I want to play it finished
>>321684671
Yeah I probably won't put anymore points into the auras and focus more on the cluster bomb, grenado and firestrike.
>>321684726
I don't know what you're doing apart from agreeing with me there. I know Immortal Throne was more of the same, which is why I wish Titan Quest II existed.
Are you also this bad at social cues in real life.
>>321684958
Thank you, wasn't trying everything to put them into the slot, but never tried that.
>>321683243
Shield Soldier with Shaman regen spec up the ass. You literally have 97% + block percentage.
Is a Nightblade + Archantist (spellbreaker) build viable?
>>321685058
Are you also this salty in real life?
Note how I used a questionmark and not a dot, because it's a question
>>321685207
Thanks for proving my point, you giant sperglord.
>>321685207
>>321685342
your both gay as fuck to be quite honest
>>321671595
Do you want a copy?
>>321685179
Just about anything is viable.
You could probably run something focused on cold/frostburn damage since both classes have skills to increase those.
>>321685451
One day I'll catch up to you senpaifam.
>make rifle build
>it's fucking shit no matter what I do
goddamn it
>>321685458
If that guy doesn't I do.
>>321685179
theres a really good spellbreaker build that uses the phantom knives skill, and you get the crit damage and bubble skill from arcanist.
>>321684572
The Hammers are great to have. It's so damn satisfying to see them swoosh through groups. Also great to use it to smash crates after a fight, is hammers are still swirling around you.
Does Titan Quest get any faster after the first couple of hours?
Is this game as slow as Titan Quest?
i created a shaman and went as nightblade as off. But i haven't found much use for the nightblade tree except for the debuff aura in level one. what more can i look for there? i'm level 20 and put most of my points in devouring swarm since i can just dot everything and run past everything at this point. but can i remove nightblade later or something?
>>321685831
grim dawn feels much faster than titan quest, and the combat also feels much more satisfying.
>>321680267
I'm doing that with MAGIC as well. Spell sword/shield guy with my latest character. I'm trying to think of cool classes that I can play and that's the last one I smashed together from other games. The small AOE spells in Arcanist lend to that retaliation style of build as well I think. They hit you and if they aren't dead, blast them.
>exciting new devotion system in place
>playing a pure pet build
>all abilities are "on hit" or "on death", one devotion skill per usable skill
>have to put a point in different skills to trigger other skills even though they will do no damage
Irritating as hell. The worst one is the "raise skeletons" skill... only works on death, and from what I heard only if the equipped skill kills them. But it isn't equippable on pets.
Got 60 hours in the game though, and now that it's actually content complete I started over properly. Only ever made it a bunch of the way through act 2 so still lots to see.
>>321685831
Titan Quest act 1 was fucking slow for the first long chunk. Grim Dawn is better, but the games are still much less "flashy" than Diablo 3 and PoE due to the focus on passives and other things (except certain builds that just spew lightning and lasers everywhere). Overall GD is just a much better Titan Quest.
>>321667769
Melee classes are borderline overpowered in this game. Still fun as fuck to play though.
>>321685640
guns are kinda shit unfortunately
>>321685831
Not after the first couple of hours, just a bit after act 1. Near endgame is where it's at.
Absolutely not, I think it mantains the same pace throughout the whole game, it just gets rad when you unlock the cool shit.
Anyone tried out Oleron's constellation and the Unknown Soldier? I was thinking about trying them out, but was wondering whether their provided skills are cool (Blind Fury and Living Shadow)?
>>321685458
I really do
>>321685831
Definitely not as slow as Titan Quest. One thing that turned me off that game was the huge lag there was for your abilities/attacks until you got stats to mitigate it. Everything responds very quickly in GD.
>>321686287
blind fury is pretty good. its basically super ring of steel
>>321685891
Sorry but you're stuck with Nightblade. I went Shaman/Arcanist just because of being a Druid and regret it hugely. Shaman/Soldier or Shaman/Occultist seem like the best combos.
>>321686132

You gotta craft that one. Check with the crafty dude in the last tab. It's not too hard to make, you should have the materials by the time you're about 20 or so without trying.
>start elite difficulty
>the real dark souls starts here
Serves me right for not stacking poison and bleed resists.
>when the scary voice says "It's only the beginning"
>>321687459
Yeah I haven't finished the game yet and I'm scared.
>>321687454
I can't even craft them because I need Resilient Plating which I have none of either.
>>321687459
elite is hard, but ultimate is horseshit. next patch is gonna balance the difficulty
>>321687551
>when an Ascended god tells you humanity is basically fucked
>trying to farm a set
Absolute suffering. What is the Meph run of this game?
>>321687454
>>321687593
Nevermind guess you had to craft the Resilient Plating as well.
I feel retarded, there are so many options and I literally have no idea what kind of character I want to play.
How enraging did you all find the final boss?
>>321687748
steps of torment is good for farming, on the fourth floor theres a loot room with a giant ass chest and a bunch of heroic monsters, and the final boss has a shitload of chests after you beat him. you need to craft a skeleton key though to get there
>>321687834
And then I used all my fucking Serrated Spikes to craft the Silk Swatches fuck this stupid fucking crafting system
>>321687459
Tell me about it. I happily went into my first defiled shrine on elite and got several hero spawns at one, one of them spammed a poison cloud. I think I died more often against that bastard than in my entire run on normal. After that I went on a crafting spree and properly outfitted my guy with resistance components and powders, so I don't get down in pieces, whenever some elemental bastard turns up. I'm still kinda shit with aether and chaos, so I'll need to think over some devotions and components.
>>321687858
just became a war of attrition eventually. I was getting fucked by so many tentacles that I just ended up bombing it to the Cthulhu-looking fuck, slapping him about a bit, dying, and rinse-repeating.
>>321687858
>play as a pet conjurer
>pet AI goes fucking nuts since there isnt any ground under him
i was playing with my friend on the bright side. i just killed the adds and he slapped the final boss, but his chaos lightning is fucking awful
>>321688034
Yeah I dislike compounding crafting systems where you have to pour tonnes of shit in just to make PART of something. At least there are places you can farm some things I guess?I also dislike farming.
>>321687936
Damn, I went Kymon's Chosen on my Soldier so I guess I'll have to get the skeleton key craft on another character.
>>321687748
I suppose you could start with doing Cronley runs; the drops have always been good for me, but that was before the devs capped the monster level at what, 40? I don't remember.
Farming sets is not worth the time, in my opinion; you can wear shit gear and do just fine until level 35, I think.
>>321688069
Likewise, ended up loosing about 80k experience killing him
Is there meant to be some knack to killing him? Short of having massive chaos resistance staying away from the endless number of hostile things in that room was impossible
>>321687459
>go into Elite
>have full Praetorians set, how bad can it be
>first shrine
>two poison slith spawn
>die immediately
>didn't know about the resistance reduction
welp guess I'm running Bastion of Chaos until I get better resistance gear
Is there any way to prevent additional people from joining when you're hosting a multiplayer game? I'm in the middle of SoT with one guy, then suddenly two assholes join and double the difficulty but of course the doors are closed so they can't come down.
>>321688227
do the arkovian undercity quest for the necromancer guy, then his ghost buddy will go to the steps of torment and give u a free key and recipe if you make it to the 3rd floor
>>321688335
I swear that with a lot of the bosses in this game it's mostly just health management rather than dodging or knowing phases. It's probably my major gripe at the minute because there's no strategy I can see for certain builds beyond 'die repeatedly and teleport back in'
>>321688362
Put a password on it.
>>321687617
What are the penalties on ultimate?
Btw any new bosses on elite or ultimate, by any chance? I liked that Titan Quest added some new optional unique bosses (e.g. hydra and skeletal dragon) on the 2nd difficulty, that weren't there on normal.
>>321688469
I agree to a point, but there are things you need to dodge like some stunning skills they throw and just huge damage skills.
What's the best class combo for a Bloodborne-themed Hunter? I was thinking Nightblade/Occultist, but I have no clue how to build it.
>>321688385
Alright I'll see if I can do that, thanks mate.
>>321687858
>full arcanist
>4000 hp 50% chaos resist
>enemy spawns everywhere and tentacles
Died three times, a surprisingly low number, considering. Absolutely confusing, worthy final boss fight.
>>321688512
i think like -40% top row resistances, and -25% bottom row resistances. stuff in ultimate though is just damage spongey and deal insane damage. i have 12k HP and plenty of defensive abilities but heroes will just 4 shot me. the higher difficulties are just unbalanced at the moment
>>321688469
This was by far the worst though.
It was similar with that Aether abomination in the barn, but there you knew where you could stand and be safe. With the final boss you had fucking whirlpools chasing after you non stop, on top of numerous tough mobs infinitely spawning.
>>321687840
You could start with a pure single class, to get a feel for the game and then choose what class to go for, depending on whether you found some outstanding items. That's how I usually start things off.
Of course, after a while you're swamped with cool looking items and still have a ton of options of what build to use with them.
>>321688598
The biggest problem you'll have is that you can't dual wield a pistol with a sword if that's what you were hoping for. The classes sound right though.
Anyone else getting E.Y.E. vibes from part of the soundtrack?
>>321688718
That's fairly good considering
Was playing a Nightblade/soldier, 7000hp with no resist. I could teleport right to him and take a chunk of health off but I'd be dead in a matter of seconds. That fucker hits insanely hard
>>321688882
Meh, I can dual-wield knives and pretend they're the Blades of Mercy.
>>321688747
Chaos and Aether resistances don't seem to drop.
>>321688882
No, you can dual-wield with any build but you have to wear a specific relic, the plan of which can be bought from the Devil's Crossing quartermaster.
>playing an arpg where the devs are too cheap to provide server side multiplayer character data.
Worked well for torchshit right?
>>321677775
your gpu doesnt matter, this game is heavently dependand on your cpu power. I have 970 and i5 2500k. my frames went to the 20's in some crazy fight, after turning my overclock on it goes up to the high 40s but its still choppy because the engine is decades old. eh.
>Summoners arent shit and can be leveled as one
wew this is quite the surprise when coming from PoE
>>321666468
>Played fine for about 10 hours
>Out of nowhere the games starts freezing, stuttering and overheating my pc to the point where it has to shut down to not fry anything
Fuck me, this was the most interesting game i got in this sale
>>321688718
I can't decide on what to add to arcanist. Do you like your pure build and find it viable at high levels?
>>321667219
in the stanton mine there is always at least 1 dynamite
>>321689494
You still can't hold a pistol and a sword at the same time.

The Homestead vendor in Act 3 sells it. If you're a lazy fuck like me, you can clear out his stock, exit, reload, and buy again ad infinitum
>>321688340
You could insert/replace some of the components on your gear. Antivenom Salve gives +20% Poison resist, for instance. Also, the Crane constellation gives you 15% poison resistance, 10% vitality resistance and 15% elemental resistance. And if you have already managed to unlock honored or revered faction items and reached the appropriate level, then you can use some of those powders to boost up your resistances as well. Just remember regarding powders, that you can remove the powder (and thus the soulbound condition) with the assistant in Devils Crossing, if you want to give the item to another character.

Yes, depends what you spend your devotion points on. I have not finished Act 1 elite yet but I think what you want is life leech, health recovery, resists, +%health, and all that good stuff. Of course, I have to use flash freeze, mirror of ereoctes and maiven's sphere; I can't just spam panetti's.

You don't have to multi-spec straight away. Focus on one class if you want. Pure builds exist and they can work. Basically, get to where you're comfortable with one class and then start levelling the other.

I wish to summon creatures. What class will allow me to do this?
>>321691391
I think the only way you can salvage this build, at this point, is going full lightning damage. Opinions?
>>321691402
Put a Soul Shard in one of your accessories. You get "30% energy absorbed from enemy spells" per Soul Shard. Or use Cord of the Ancestor (~50% energy absorption). You can then just go stand on an enemy sigil or some firebomb and your energy bar shoots up to full like it's nothing. Usually there's enough enemy casters around to not drain your energy bar completely and in the rare event that it does happen, just pop an energy potion from the hundreds you have stacked up in the mean time.

It's an ARPG (e.g. Diablo, Torchlight, Path of Exile). The setting is post-apocalyptic fantasy with a Victorian aesthetic. The unique gimmick is that you pick up to two classes and benefit from the skill trees of both. On top of that there's a Devotion system that lets you pick from passive bonus trees with points you get for purifying/repairing shrines to the gods.

>>321692380
I'd say any variation of the Aether Ray Arcanist. Albrecht's Aether Ray is itself a fun as fuck skill and annihilates everything but you're going to need a lot of Spirit to make the most use of it, leaving little for Physique. Luckily Maiven's Sphere of Protection's damage penalty barely even touches the Ray's damage output. Ereoctes Mirror and Flash Freeze can get you out of a pinch too.
>>321692183
The skill is named Targo's Hammer and is awarded by the Anvil constellation. It'll trigger on block with a 25% chance, so I think you'll need a shield, though I'm not entirely sure. Someone correct me if I'm wrong with the shield requirement.

I'm not big into theorycrafting the stats. I usually end up roughly copying the stat distribuition of the class. Looking at my Commando, I'm roughly 2Strengh-2Cunning-1Spirit with a bit more strength than cunning. I'm, at 69 now and feel pretty comfortable with it and keep spirit high enough to wear the amulets and rings I want. I also currently keep between 5-10 points undistributed, in case I find some awesome piece of equipment that needs a bit of extra stats, but that's just me, as I'm still building up my item vault and don't know what nice stuff could be dropping.

>>321695618

>>321694736
I'm the wrong guy to ask. I went sword and board for the comfy feel of a little extra protection with my soldier. Haven't tried to make it work with a Soldier's Cadence yet.
>>321695707
What kind of information?
I think demolisher sounds cool, I'm now sure who to combine that with or how I will build, I feel like building would depend on what other class might go well with demolishing

multiplayer functionality on this or no

So now that the game is content complete how much content is there? Nowadays "complete" can be interpreted in many ways.

For those who're afraid to completely fuck up their build, keep in mind that the game gives you a lot of ways to compensate or correct various shortcomings of your build, if you're not hell bent on min maxing every last point. There's components, constellations and faction powders to add more resistances, dps modifiers, damage types or stats to help you build with stuff they're not good at. You can even add passive and active additional skills via items and constellations. And various items provide generous stat boosts, either by percentage or absolute points. Skill points and devotion points can be respeced. Only stuff that you're stuck with are stat distribution and the skill points you sunk into the class bar.
All that stuff should be able to take you through normal and into elite at least. Once you reach that point, you'll probably have a good enough grasp on the mechanics to properly plan out a new character, if you're not satisfied with their performance after all and can't fine tune anymore. Also, chances are, once you've finished a normal run on your first char, you'll probably have some nice uniques that'll scream "try a build for me, you know you want to!" in your direction.

They're fine but have lower dps than 2 hand melee because you've got the added safety of not having to be close to them I presume. I think the biggest limitation for ranged weapons at the moment is the lack of passives and/or attacks that work with them (which was partly addressed with the last patch). I was pleasantly surprised to find out Slam, a skill granted by one of the components works with ranged skills though.

You're certainly less likely to end up with an utterly useless class compared with Titan Quest
Devs have made an effort to put some synergy between all the classes this time.
Being a two handed Shaman/Soldier, how should I split up my attributes?
I'm not sure if I need any Spirit or not and I'm even less sure how to go about splitting Physique and Cunning
Boy i've sank countless hours in TQ and TQ:IT, i've got this in the sales since it is finally content complete.
One question tho, does anyone know if there are already a TQVault-like program and Defiler?
More importantly, which one is the best Van Helsing simulator? this or TIAOVH: Final Cut?

I actually never played Diablo, but I really liked Torchlight and Torchlight II. Titan Quest was good too, but I sort of wanted something more "updated". I imagine this is closest to Titan Quest given the devs.
Path of Exile I played for about a week and got bored, but that was a few years ago, may be better now.
>>321703292
It all depends on what you want to focus on. Do you want to be a tank? Physique and anything that boosts your armor/health/regen.You want to be a crit machine? Cunning, as well as boosting your attack power to maximize damage when you crit.

If you already liked the gameplay of TitQuest, then chances are you'll like Grim Dawn better. It improves upon various shortcomings of Titan Quest, to make the game feel more fluent and build options more varied.
If by "updated" you mean graphics-wise, then don't expect miracles. The game engine is still the Titan Quest engine with a few improvements and the game has a different aesthetic (magic victorian post apocalypse with zombies and horrors from the beyond).

you can rush the first difficulty in around 18-20 hours if you get sorta lucky with drops. maxing a character (getting to the final diff, plus hitting all the devition shrines) takes probably 70+ hours. There are also bounties and faction rewards to work toward, plus the random "roguelike" dungeon (death deposits you back outside, layout changes and enemies reset when you re-enter, keys to get in take rare resources to craft). Lotta optional side content. When it comes out of early access in February they will add survival mode (a kickstarter stretch goal).

whoa, when did burrwitch prison get that fancy gate??
>>321707779
You can respec your skills in Devil's Crossing prison.
is this like POE where you go over the same fucking areas again and again only with increased difficulty?
>>321701290
shamelessly cribbed from D3 wiz arcane disintegration ray
>>321708121
Not stats though. Or the class. Or the points in the mastery of the class. And devotion costs aether crystals.
I've had this game for god knows how long and I read that all the content is now available. I've only played a couple of hours here and there but never fully played it. Any tips I should know about before I play my first real game of it?
>>321708009
infinitely more expensive, marginally more fun
>>321708601
shamelessly cribbed from FS2 beam cannons
>>321708801
use grimcalc, its super useful for build planning
>>321708262
Yes. It tries to mix things up a bit, by blocking off different passages during each session, which some like and some don't, but the overall map layout is always the same.
>>321709118
Yes and No
It's makes the early game a lot slower and harder but adds tons of new content
>>321709118
Haven't played the mod yet, though I'd suggest playing unmodded TQ with the Immortal Throne addon first. Don't forget the fan patch though. The mod description sounds like "if you need change and grew bored with vanilla...".
>>321708262
nigga maybe arpgs arent for you
So far I've got 3 characters, but they're only level 5ish.
>Shaman/Soldier
Carry the biggest hammer I can find and spam Primal Strike all day erry day. Straightforward as fuck, but very effective so far. I use Mogdrogen's Pact and some of the Soldier passives to stay alive and have tons of Physique, so I'm tanky as fuck.
>Demolitionist/Occultist
Currently using a rifle and using Fire Strike and Curse of Frailty as my main skills. One-shotting a lot of shit so far, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here. I'm thinking of grabbing Summon Hellhound next so I don't have to choose between facetanking or kiting like a faggot.
>Arcanist/Nightblade
Spamming Calidor's Tempest a lot, but it's shite to be honest. It barely does any damage especially against single targets, I run out of mana every 10 seconds, and despite having Maiven's Sphere of Protection AND Veil of Shadow up all the time I'm still squishy as fuck. I'll probably respec this guy to use Trozan's Sky Shard and see if that's less garbage.
>>321708876
wow! what a cogent and compelling counterargument.
>>321698826
How do you install TQ mods for the steam version?
>>321708601
And the entire genre is cribbed from Diablo. What's your point?
Am I doing this shit right? please respond ive been trying to get the multiplayer to work for 3 hours straight
>>321710303
And Diablo is essentially just a real-time Roguelike.Everything is derivative.
>>321710346
Looks correct, perhaps you have the game blocked in your firewall?
>>321710576
my firewall is disabled and I made my IP static
it still says thatt uPnP is disabled in the ingame options menu
>>321708601
im pretty sure every arpg has a focused beam spell
>>321704946
I haven't found a lightsaber yet.
Try Sacred Gold (or Sacred 2 Gold) if you want an ARPG with lightsabers. Sacred 2 even lets you play as Sheev.
Currently playing an arcanist/occultist with a focus on not magic missiles and laser beam. What are some good constellations to focus on? Seems to be a lot of strong +%aether damage options but with the chaos transmute I lose all that laser damage. Should I do chaos anyway or what?
Also considering a pet build for another character. Heard pets got nerfed pretty hard though so unsure about that.
I like that you can intercept ranged enemy fire with your gunfire. Not that it's all that useful with the ton of shit flying your way in a regular battle, but it's a nice little detail. Even Targo's Hammer can block some of the enemy fire, if it happens to be in its path.
How 'finalized" is this game?
Its been like 2 years and its still in fucking early access.
But I don't really want to play it if itsj ust going to change a shit ton and then release.
>>321710798
ty anon
>>321711521
Content wise? The base game is 100% complete but they do plan on making an expac.
Balance wise? Thats why its still in early access. They want 2 months to balance everything out before calling it officially released.
>>321711521
It's 100% content complete. IIRC they're going to do one big patch before the official release, but it will only have bugfixes and balance changes.
I'm doing an occultist build and chose Angrim as my blacksmith. did i fuck up?
Is soldier/occultist any good? I want to abuse melee passives out the ass.
>>321711665
>>321711684
So would this be a fairly "safe" buy in that sense?
Apart from "my build is now shit" kind of changes?
>>321711763
Not really. Duncan is better for magic damage, but the difference isn't that big anyway as far as I remember.
>>321711898
Yes. Though I should point out, most build decisions are reversible, so even IF they fuck your build, they don't really fuck your CHARACTER.
>>321711898
I would say so, yes.
>>321711990
>>321712016
Well thank you anons. Might grab it soonish then.
>>321711807
Soldier synergises well with just about anything. You can just forcus on whichever Soldier skills you like and add some skills from your secondary as bonuses.
Occultist can be a bit fiddly as a secondary, since it has different actives that do very different things and it doesn't have any easy passives you can pick up and forget about, but stuff like Soleil's Witchfire and Curse of Frailty works well with just about any build.
Any wishes hopes for an additional class, if they go for an Immortal Throne style expansion? Back then, TQ:IT gave us the op dream class, which fit with pretty much everything.
>>321712886
They're adding a gunslinger-type class for the planned expansion
>>321713016
I thought they wanted to add a Necromancer first?
>>321713016
>>321713240
Both would be cool, but honestly I think gunslinger would be better.
Necromancer is pretty much magic+pets, and there are already plenty of magic classes and two pet classes. Meanwhile there are zero classes that focus on ranged weapons. Not to mention ranged weapons feel UP compared to melee and magic since there aren't really any AOE gun attacks and most builds just can't survive without good AOE. You're pretty much forced to go with Explosive Strike and that's it.
What are the odds this will run on an hd3000?
I'm tired of torchlight 2 and diablo 3 is fucking expensive
I'm new to ARPGs and I guess could use some help. I created my nightblade and put most of his skill points into the dual wielding passives.
Do you guys typically use the num keys to activate skills or do you re arrange the keyboard keys to your liking? What are good active skills?
What does the shiny bit of the health bar that goes down every time I heal mean?
>>321713923
What. Demo has plenty of focus on ranged weapons.
>>321712468
When it says primary weapon for soleil's, does it just mean whatever you have on you LMB?
>>321707189
Unfortuantely no one played diablo 3, so it probalby wasn't even a copy, they didn't even know it existed.
Savagery or Cadence for a two handed build?
>>321684737
that's because the textures are complete and utter shit, desu, senpai.
Also there isn't a ton of monster variety as far as these games go, which helps a lot, i'm sure.
>>321716443
Savagery
>>321702246
>Playing Diablo 3
>Don't mind it, kind of fun despite the hate
>Recently bought Grim Dawn due to latest patch.
>Feels like shit when I try to play Diablo 3 now
I dunno, I feel grim dawn raises the bar here when it comes to arpgs. Even though I'm only level 25, I already feel like I have way more freedom than I ever did in Diablo 3.
Welp just hopped on the sale bandwagon
Well, it's time to start playing my lvl 50 Witch Hunter again.
Should I be working on getting my mastery high initially or should I be investing in the skills for my build, or going 50/50 or what?
>>321719813
generally find a skill you want to get and go straight for that.
>>321666468

>>321720934

How pathetic is your life?
What if i keep bumping this thread, will you cry?
Just came in to ask why we're seeing a new Grim Dawn thread everyday, it's the same shit that gets posted here too. Creepy as hell.
>>321725269
Dont pretend you're a different person. Jesus christ you're sad.
>>321724969
it would be extremely painfull

Oh so samefagging is sad now? You've been at it for 3 days roflmao, take a break kid.
>>321725269

Just went content complete, also on sale. Happens most times it gets a decent patch.
Thats pretty much it.
