Sacred Stone or Awakening?
>>321622684
awakening if you never played a fire emblem, sacred stones if you already played one
Sacred Stones.
Both are good entry points.
>>321622684
You could play either really but they are both good. I prefer Sacred Stones though.
Sacred Stones is superior in almost every way. I even think the graphics look better. I find the stylish sprites much more appealing than the models in awakening. The only thing awakening has over Sacred Stones is a self insert so you can at least pretend to be cool and liked in a video game.
They're both piss easy, but at least SS is more representative of FE as a series
Sacred Stones if you want original FE experience like in the good days.
Awakening if you want to experience neo-Fire Emblem and waifushit
>>321622684
Sacred stone first, so you can see how shit awakening is
OP here. I'll go with Sacred Stones being my first Fire Emblem game. I'll try out Awakening afterwards though. Would FE veterans recommend starting with Hard Mode if you're familiar with other tactical JRPGs like Advance Wars and FFT since the game is easy?
Sacred Stones since Awakening is garbage
>>321623720
Probably. Sacred Stones is one of the easiest in the series so Hard is most likely the best option. It's still a great game though.
Ephraim best Lord.
>>321624081
He is pretty sexy.
>>321623174
The Fire Emblem GBA had the best sprite animations in anything ever.
Is Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn worth picking up?
>>321623720
I started with Fire Emblem 7 this summer, and went to Awakening straight afterwards.
boy was that suddenly incredibly boring in comparison. It gets better, but it is the most casual shitfest for a while.
Fire Emblem Awakening was why I got interested in the series in the first place, but the earlier games turned out to be way more interesting to me.
>>321624236
I played them both, and they're alright in their own rights if you're a fan of the FE series, though I'd probably rather pirate them.
The Wii one (Radiant Dawn, I think?) has huge battles, so prepare to wait for hours each turn while the AI moves its units. You better be playing on an emulator with a turbo button.
Sacred Stones for sure, was my first in the series.
This motherfucker could almost solo the whole game if you truly wanted him to. Best unit.
Sacred Stone
Have you played FE7 though?
>>321624472
I think you mean Ross
they're both bad
Sacred stone is shorter and has different routes
Awakening is longer and has a larger cast
Play 6
>>321624472
in FE you usually get one powerful cavalry unit who can get shit done in the first chapters of the game, but he is quickly outgrown by the other characters, so he should never soak up too much EXP...
unless there is a grinding mechanic in the game instead of limited EXP that is.
>>321624539
I haven't tried any FE game out yet, so I looked up one of the easiest games to get into the series with and Sacred Stones and Awakening was the two top contenders.
>>321624674
Fire Emblem (Fire Emblem 7) for the GBA is really great too. The western release has "Lyns Story" which is a mini campaign that sees you playing as this sexy gurl and her friends who tries to take back their homeland.
It really eases you into it, and by the end you are ready as ever for something more, and that is where the game starts.
>>321624539
Where did you get such information?
Top two contenders are FE6 and 7 for sure

the reason that those two games are easy to get into, is because they threw away one of the series core mechanics - limited EXP.
You can grind out levels easily in both games, so if you get stuck somewhere, you can just make your characters stronger instead of changing up your strategies.
I think Fire Emblem 7 or Fire Emblem Path of Radiance are good to start with, since they both feature soft beginnings for new players, while still being full fledged Fire Emblem games.

Varies forums, Sacred Forest, Gamefaqs, IGN, ect. I saw some people say FE7 is a good starter game, but nobody said anything about FE6. Would it be idea to play FE8, FE7, FE6, and then FE13 in that order?
>>321624824
Japanese has the prologue (Lyn mode) too actually
>>321624602
Well Seth is pretty much an absolute beast throughout so it really doesn't matter if he does. In some of the other games like FE6 it's better to use the 'Jagen' type character only in tight situations.
>>321625294
nice
>>321625251
I would start with 7 instead of 8, but sure, it seems like a good little road map. You are gonna have a ton of fun, I hope
>>321624957
Every playthrough man. The guy is an absolute beast.
>>321624226
They're great but I'd argue that the GBA SRW games have better spritework.
Who /wyvern/ here?
>>321627258
I'm a bit of a /paladinboy/
>>321627258
Jill is pretty cute but Haar is just the best.
Apparently Camilla is Haar tier in Fates.
Am I the only one that can't get into SS?
I tried to play it three times and every time I quit midway after getting bored by it. The battles and tactics are fine, but I can't get into the walls of text and plot. I just don't really give a fuck about what's happening in the kingdoms to read all that shit before every chapter. And because I don't care about the characters or what they're trying to accomplish, I don't care about what's happening to them.
>>321628281
I had the same problem you are having with 8 with 7. I could give less of a fuck about Eliwood and Lyn. They are just really boring characters. Hector was not close to being enough for me to enjoy the story of the game.
I say you should just play the game to enjoy the gameplay, music and side characters. If that's not enough for you then don't bother trying again.
