It's really damn mediocre with a lot of repetitive environments and recycled enemies.
It's not bad but far from GOTY.
Now I love Gust games but I wouldn't go that far.

This was a while back around the time the game was released in Japan after a bit.
Mainly that the combat was somewhat stale and such and the story wasn't interesting.

Story is fine. They do a lot of info dumping about the lore and crap, however.
The gameplay isn't really stale, it's just remarkably easy until you hit the end. The final boss, the post game content and the Colosseum make you actually think about what load outs you're using.

It's the typical GUST thing where it doesn't push you very hard until you hit certain choke points, which don't matter as much if you go through all the hoops to break it. If they ever do a plus they'll probably add a hard mode.
It's fun. Got 30 hours out of it and didn't even get the platinum. You have to kill the secret boss 5 times for that and it was way too difficult.

Regular enemies can fuck you up in 2 turns if you don't plan accordingly. Bosses are nearly impossible without tons of fore planning.

All jokes aside it's an alright game, okay story, fun gameplay, great soundtrack but too short and not very hard (aside from a few fights and that one dlc dungeon).
Anders is perfect though
People just don't grasp that it's a low budget game and as such can't have that much unique content in terms of enemies and shit. Gust games don't sell -that- much so they need to do it.
