You can check out Final Fantasy VII on Steam. It works with both XBone and DS4 controllers.
But there are probably more recen, faster paced JRPGs out there for a beginner

Trails in the Sky on Steam. Or emulate Lunar Silver Star Story. Both of these games have AAA original sound tracks, which help you relax and have_______fun_____. I haven't been able to sink into a game like I did with trails since I was a wee lad playing SNES in my basement.
