Just fight everything you see and ramp up chaos.
They introduced a lot of random events during those battles: Troopers dropping on all outposts and SAM sites, random tank, naval and helicopter skimrishes. Jets all over the place.
The chaotic city battles in JC1 were the best part of the game. Tanks everywhere, endless waves of NPCs on both sides. That really made that Civil War feeling, JC3 just failed at that just a little bit.

The webms look cool and all, but this game got so tedious so fast. No doubt a lot of people got suckered in to buying the game like that. Other than looking cool, the game was a collection of half-assed objectives, story, shooting, and pretty much everything else. It doesn't matter how fun zipping and flying through a huge environment is if the game doesn't bother giving you an interesting or engaging framework to play around in to begin with IMO. That's partly my issue with "open world" as a selling point.

It's 2D. It's more like a battleship kind setup. The fighters can fly up and down to an extent and junk is dotted around as well but the player and any capital ships stay on one plane. It's good, I was disappointing at first but itjust worksespecially as the ships have so much heft to them.

It's not good. the first 30 hours were great and then it's just kind of... empty. It had potential but they really fucked up when they decided release the DLC for £40. New players could buy just the DLC and the base game would come with it for free. They would spend just the £40. Players that had bought the game previously (including people that had supported the game from it's early stages) had to pay for the DLC with a £10 "loyalty" discount. All in all these players had to pay £70 for the DLC, which is shit, it just lets you drive a buggy around on non-atmospheric planets and moons.
ED now has mixed reviews on steam and the devs deserve to crash and burn.

I see literallly no problem with that. The game isn't about quests, and locations take a long time to get to.
Not to mention that the auto-run is inherently inferior to running yourself because of the artificial pathing forcing strange turns and corrections, or even downright slowing your mount.

My major gripe with the third is that they ruined a lot of mechanics for no reason.
Parachuting is clunky as hell, you have to wait for an arbitrary animation to complete AFTER the parachute is fully deployed before you can do anything else.
You need to equip remote explosives like you would a gun in order to place them, and you have to be right up against something in order to place it. Although there are infinite of them, so that's kind of convenient. There's an annoying upgrade where they become rockets before exploding, too.
Beacons now take ammo, and you have to wait a while in between drops to get guns/vehicles after you ordered them*
Upgrades are no longer done in collectables. Instead you have to complete minigames (some of which are bullshit hard, and others are just plain fucking boring) and that unlocks stuff. *earning enough "gear points" you can get instant restocks, but it takes a fuck load of gear points.
The map isn't as diverse. You don't have jungle, city, mountain desert. There are also no rivers. Instead you have 1 mountain that's ridiculously small, and the rest is generic Mediterranean country side, littered with small cities about the size of your average city in JC2.
There are a lot fewer locations overall, and most are pretty uninteresting. Nothing like the strip club blimp. Very few airfields.
Vehicle diversity is extremely lacking. While it might be better than JC2 and JC, it just feels small. The fact that there aren't camo variants of the different vehicles adds to this immensely. One of my favorite things to do in JC2 was hunt down all the rare camo versions of the military vehicles, like the arctic tank or the desert cargo jet.
It takes time for Rico to unholster his weapons so sometimes you just stand there like an idiot as Rico slowly pulls his rifle off of his back.
I mean it's fun, but there's just a bunch of small annoyances that make the game less fun than it could be.

This is all true. I think with Panau they had pretty much the best video game setting possible, they shouldve set it there for JC3 but with updated shit. The gameplay of 3 is generally pretty fun though, my one gripe being that rico's body doesnt properly count as a physics object. The coolest moment that's happened to me in JC3 so far was I tried to punch a soldier, missed and accidentally knocked one of the support struts for a watch tower out and the tower fell down. It was a "holy shit this is an action film" moment. But think how hard it is to do that stuff, and also to divebomb people in your wingsuit. I think that one change of making rico a physics object would make a huge difference

You loved the demo? Then you'll love the gameplay for sure. The story isn't extremely advanced but the way it is told by the protagonist... you can't dislike it.
