When you're getting paid to do something you have an obligation to fulfill, so there's pressure to do it perfectly, you need to fill the commissioner's exact specification, and you can't just dump the whole thing if you lose interest. When you're just fucking around and doing free shit, you can settle for "good enough" if drawing it stops being fun to do, and requests usually leave enough leeway to interpret them in a way that'll be interesting to draw.
I just like drawing for fun. Sometimes I really get into the drawing and it turns out great. Other times I think it'll be awesome but nothing works out the way I want it to so it turns out like shit, if I even bother to finish it and post it at all.
