Basically the devs discovered that can't do the vast majority of what they promised. The tech they paid for (Pikoserver) which was supposed to allow for 1000+ player battles turned out to be snake oil, so the game has been downgraded to a Space Marine Multiplayer game with some more races soonâ„¢ and more weapons soonâ„¢, and some ground vehicles.
The problem is they've already taken people's money for it and now what they promised (which is what people put money into) can't be delivered. Some of the studio's talent including lead programmer and lead level designer quit, as did the original creative designer who bailed even before they announced that they couldn't achieve what they had set out to do.
It's a train wreck.

The only ships that have turrets are the chaos ones (with some exceptions) and you are going to hit those by firing on the boardside, it's a completely useless function.

Depending on when you look at in terms of fluff he has always been that or will only become it post-death.
The Emperor didn't want to be seen as a god purely because it would mean accepting the other gods of existing.
This worked against him as denying the chaos gods existence doesn't stop them existing.
I personally don't mind which origin you take, either the shaman merging god-child version of the perpetual man who became the anathema to Chaos it all results in the same endgame:
The Emperor has both a physical and ethereal essence that is both material and in the warp.
He is literally referred to as a beacon of light in the warp. This isn't just from the Throne itself, but also because of what he stands for against Chaos.
While the chaos gods are forces of primal emotion, the Star Child is as well. Powered through positive emotions that all branch out from faith and selfless service.

You're looking at it from too narrow a perspective. You're not wrong in that the Emperor's faith in us is truly godly, and it is in fact a great disrespect to turn away from Him.
But imagine that you don't think it's possible to feel the Emperor's love. You were born on a monstrously dangerous planet, but you cannot even conceive of a "planet" being a factor of differentiation among humans. Your world is your village. You farm and toil and spend your mandatory village-defense time learning how to spar against the great green Ork menace that occasionally plagues your lands. Every few harvests the planetary governor comes and takes everything you have produced, leaving you with nothing to show for all your hard work.
Then, one day, a traveler stops by in your village. He says he's on his way to see the planetary governor. He tells you that he wanted to share some ideas with him. You've never heard of "sharing ideas" before, so you ask him about it. Before you know it, he's told you all about these great cosmic powers that can help you throw off the shackles of oppression that the governor has bound you with!
Obviously, it isn't always so clean and easy to spread the corruption. But too much sympathy for the Emperor leaves you blind to the struggle of the everyman, and thus, blind to the spread of corruption.

Same can be said about the IG m8.
The Skitarii are holy warriors of the Omnisiah, who further the quest of knowledge trough fire and blood. Also, in the Skitarius novel, the MC takes a fucking Chaos Space Olbiterator head on with no fear. Though he is defeated, that feat alone, is worthy of respect.

You can read Dawn of Eldar on 1d4chan for more - but some of it is embellished. However Relic has never really tried to hide their biases. Just look at CoH2 were German/OKW factions literally play themselves, all the player needs to do is move them and retreat before squad wipe. Allies on the other hand require abit more thinking and skill to overcome Axis, and they don't nearly have the kind of tanky superubermensch units. And at the end of the day, the games are for the Allies to lose. As long as Germans can hold onto fuel and some ammo, while harassing the Allies' caps then they are golden. They're so OP, on of their commanders can airdrop supplies. So you have a buddy play wehrmacht, call the supplies on fuel cap and bam, you've got a KT in the first ten minutes of the game when Allies are lucky to have a few AT guns, if not a medium tank.
what race/marine chapter/ig regiment/person in 40k has a jamaican accent?
>>321555968
>He had no fear because most human emotion was scrubbed out of him.
Not exactly. The skitarii can feel emotion, but they have ways to suppress and shut them off when necessary.
Also, the situations where all the Skitarii are already dead are usually massive invasions of forgeworlds etc. Normally Skitarii work under the orders of their techpriest masters, and only very rarely, involve themselves with other Imperial forces, because Techpriests are secretive dicks who don't like to share or give any clues to other imperial factions on what they are up to.
>>321556189
do orks have penises?

Well, usually when Skitarii are present in a story, the plot hook is "Mechanicus Explorator dug out some cosmic horror oh no the planet/system/sector/segmentum/Imperium is DOOMED if our heroes don't stop it", so of course the skitarii escorting the aforementioned explorator have to die for the plot's sake

It's the same in the fucking fluff too, it's a running joke how arrogant and out of touch Eldar are
>>321556580
Well it does kinda, it limits Chapters to 1,000 men, making it harder for an event on the scale of the HH to take place.
>>321556482
Nope even outside DoW the Eldar always fuck up
>Silly mon keigh I have tricked you into destroying my army
No wonder all their craftworlds get nommed on or blown to bits. And now their latest brilliant master plan involves resurrecting some eldritch death god to try and kill Slaneesh, just fucking brilliant. Absolutely flawless plan, no way it will ever backfire on them

Except in the fluff, the Eldar pull of shit like destroying whole hive fleets, orchestrating massive multiplanetary purges of nids, fucking up Chaos left and right, and dancing around the Imperium's impotent responses to the rare occasions when the Eldar actually engage them. The Eldar don't particularly like fighting the Imperials in the first place.
Usually, when the Eldar do get fucked up in the fluff, it is just to showcase how dangerous, or badass the particular threat or propped up faction is.
The Eldar are basically the Worf of 40k.
>>321556758
But that's simply not true m8. You'd know this is you had actually read any Eldar lore. The quickest way to identify niggers who only know 40k based on DoW is if they spout stupid shit like you are spouting.
Besides, Ynnead already exists, he is just slumbering within the Infinity Circuits of the Eldar craftworlds, and the Eldar are pretty close to waking him up. There is no indication that it would backfire on them, seeing how the god is composed of their own ancestor's souls, with whom they communicate constantly.
Again, you'd know this if you actually had read any Eldar lore.
>>321557259
Yeah, as much shit as DoW 2 rightfully receives, it's still not a bad game (just a bad DoW game).
Chaos Rising is fun.

You just need to be open minded to new stuff.
There wasn't any need to make another RTS like the first game, since it already had loads of expansion, it would have just been more of the same.
Dawn of War II: Retiribution with Elite Mod is Company of Heroes: Warhammer Edition and it's fucking great. I don't usually like Realtime Strategy in multiplayer, but I'm going to make an exception for this.

For Eldar, afterlife consists of either Oblivion (Ynnead) or Hell (Slaneesh/Warp). It's obvious they'd prefer the former, no matter what.

Relic promised DoWII to be more of the same 'but (...)'. Their excuse behind not implementing Tyranids was engine limitations and you know how those large-scale battles turned out to be in the sequel.
I'm not an RTS fan (even to this day), but I was really disappointed by how they gutted/'streamlined' the gameplay.

I'm open minded as fuck. I just dislike bad gameplay ideas. For example: the concept of a retreating unit gaining increased speed and defence, I find a little disheartening. Retreating from a fight should be greatly punishable.

It is greatly punished though. A unit is taken out of the fight and you have to spend valuable resources to bring it up to full strength.
DoW2 is more small scaled than DoW1 and I think it works in its favor.

Well Retribution has more RTS elements while being an RTT and finally got factions to chose from.
Elite Mod refines the gameplay and is even expanding among the factions you can chose.
>>321558136
Retreating all the way back can take a long time and you're giving up map control by doing it. Makes taking them out later on much more rewarding, especially if they are leveled up elite units.
I don't find the RTS approach of having units die in droves and being replaced by more cannon fooder a superior system.

Neither has one single Spartan. The chief had the entire human forces of earth and other colonies fighting the covenant so he could do his stupid shit. He wouldn't have done diddly squat without cortana telling him what to do.
In fact, the only advantage the chief would have is Cortana, since the imperium deems AI as an abomination.

They're not rational, they just pretend to be nice, but use eugenics and brainwashing to keep their citizens in line. Farsight realized this and splintered into a different army with the baddest asses of the Tau Empire. Too bad he's possesed by Khorne.
>>321544607
Pointless question
Literally everything in 40k is mary-sue tier overpowered. That's the point of the setting.
It steamrolls any other setting in terms of power.
>>321552973
If I remember correctly they changed that recently, basically the majority of his army had started to worship the blood god and even he had doubts about them. But he still didn't want to leave him.
But all in all, aside from like that faggot Logar all the traitor primarchs had sad falls to chaos.
Magnus had his world burnt and was manipulated by Horus to turn traitor
Fulgrim got raped by a demon and is forever screaming inside a sword
Mortarians trust was abused by Horus until he was too deep to wash his hands of it
Perturabo who is my niggah, was manipulated by Horus, basically forced to throw his legion into battle constantly taking huge casualties, being used to grind down the enemy. All while telling him that it was direct orders from the Emperor. Broken by the loss of his men he joins Horus
Cruze was used to butcher populations and basically saw to much went full ptsd mode
Alpharius is tricky, he was either trolled into rebellion by the Eldar, or is actually doing the right?Wrong? Thing. For those who don't know. A group of Eldar and I think some other races contacted him, they were this conclave of future seers. They said, if he didn't join Horus's rebellion mankind would suffer the slow slow death, suffering over thousands and thousands of years of total war so basically what the Imperium is going through currently in its timeline.
If he did join Horus, they would win, then Horus would have a heel face turn, and destroy the gods of chaos, or well at least wreck them hard enough that they couldnt effect anything.
So he goes traitor, but does he? Cause he is a sneaky git, and the Imperium still exist. So either the Eldar shit heads lied which they do all the time, or he joined the rebellion to undermine and destroy any chance for victory. If he did that, is it still in effect, has the warp driven him to madness, is he even still alive, perhaps only he knew the true plan.
Its probably my single favorite piece of lore from 40k.

What? Perturabo went to Chaos, because he didn't fucking get a shred of respect for his deeds, always had to do that siege stuff even though he had a huge boner for architecture and building shit and his dudes were always given the shitty jobs nobody wanted. Also broken by the loss of his men? Perturabo's Legion was a goddamn meat grinder from the very moment he took charge.
