I never played Witcher 1 and it's my first Witcher game. Is this mod recommended?
http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/237/?
play it vanilla desu
the rhythm max power groove combat is the best in the series.
use the combat mod for wticher 2 though

I'd say that if you're going into a game for the first time the only mods you should get are ones that improve the stability of the game or readd content.
>>321501651
>>321501704
Are you sure? I heard it was made by an employee of Cdprojekt
>>321501651
>use the combat mod for wticher 2 though
HAHAHAHA no.
This mod makes the game 10/10 for me, but the mod has some quirks and pitfals that can make new players get stuck.
Nothing that can't be solved without googling though
>>321501564
honestly you should just find the console code to give yourself max stats and get through the combat as fast as you can. you're playing the game for the story and questing, not the combat.
>>321501564
the "full combat rebalance" mods for each game are really just some autist's random alteration of enemy damage and attack speed. they're shit.
oddly enough cdpr hired the guy who did the mod for 2, which was even worse than the mod for 1
Guys, question.
I have Witchers 2 and 3. Should I get 1 and start there, or am I alright with 2?
I don't know if I want to miss out on lore and story, tb'h.
>>321504765
You're alright without it
>>321504564
>you're playing the game for the story and questing, not the combat
Faggot detected.
>>321504678
>oddly enough
It's not odd at all that they hired him, the mod makes the game one of the better balanced RPG's i've played, yet all the battles are quick and can be deadly at higher difficulties.
>>321504765
Yes you are missing out a lot of lore.
Basically the first witcher starts and ends with the wild hunt but he's not the main villain
Witcher 1=Witcher 3 >Witcher 2
Anyone who thinks 2 is better than 1 is a faggot.
Witcher 2 is 25hours long and was shipped unfinished because they ran out of money and it shows.
It's still 8.5/10 game tho
>>321505079
This, I like 2 but its the weakest in the series now.
>>321504765
1 is the best so no you shouldn't skip it.
>>321505079
It's around 30 if you do all the quests.
About the same length of Mass Effect games, don't see why the length is a problem..
>>321505013
>>321505180
Gotcha familia.
>>321504919
Eh... I think I'll risk digging through it. Don't want to miss important story elements.
witcher 1 to this day is still vastly underrated. there so much god damn lore and flavor crammed into the game its ridiculous.
Don't really get the hate for Witcher 1, never heard that it's "awful" or "worst game ever" until I started posting on /v/.
Think one of the reasons is that chapter 1 has backtracking and some MMO like quests. plus the combat is not very well explained. Developers got so used to playing the game they forgot to introduce people to the combat, which is very unsual for an isometric RPG, but I think it's pretty good.
>>321505760
You okay? This thread is full of praise for Witcher 1
>>321504564
best advice in this thread. combat is god awful and adds nothing to the game.
>>321501564
honestly, no
just download the white wolf restoration project or something, it fixes the UI and shit and was made by dudes from cd project apparently
play on max difficulty and honestly the combat is gonna be good
remember that retarded pic in paint with the drowners ? imagine 100 more of them
>>321505806
Maybe because all the Americans are asleep, some asshole always shows up and claims it's 1/10 game, which kinda pisses me off .
>playing a game with shit gameplay
>but muh lore
just read the wiki you autist
>>321505890
>remember that retarded pic in paint with the drowners ? imagine 100 more of them
FCR fixes stuff like that though, you no longer need to kill hundreds of them as you move trough the swamps
>>321506021
>using buzzwords such as muh
no anon, you are the autists
>>321506030
hmm thats weird, because like a year ago i played the game with it and im pretty sure there was even more of them
was it rise of the white wolf that you used or some other mod ?
>>321506119
No, never used that one , preffer how the original UI and armors looked.
Telling you man, I had trouble finding drowners for the contract, had to camp for them
>>321501564
I used Rise of the White Wolf and the FCR and I ended up cheating my dick off towards the end because of the absolute bullshit the game does. If ANYTHING gets the first hit on you, you're fucked. Get used to saving before EVERY fight.
Good story and shit though. Felt nice being able to forge his story in preparation for 2.
>>321501564
>playing shit
>>321506361
It's not bullshit anon, the mod expects you to have done all the side quests, and a huge number of them are easily missed.
check out the sidequests section see how much you've missed
http://guides.gamepressure.com/thewitcher/
>>321506515
Yeah, I missed a couple of them and it made the completionist in me upset. But not upset enough to restart the game because apparently save-edits don't work unless you can read machine code.
But yeah, still, good game.
>>321506515
With the FCR I did all the side quests, played some kind of meele build and I found the best balanced RPG i've played.
Every encounter could be fatal if I wasn't careful, and the last boss fight took me 20 minutes. Felt it was just right, with older RPGs I'm usually far behind, and newer ones are way too easy
>wanting to miss out on vanilla where you turn into a literal death machine in chapter 5 with your group style or igni being able to dispatch dozens of filthy nonhumans and order faggots with one click
>>321506880
>and then become a gimped mudsucker back again in witcher 2 regardless of how strong you were in W1
>>321506947
triss made him into a soft faggot within a couple of months
>>321505907
I'm American and I can't stand the witcher 2. But I really enjoyed the first one.
OP here, getting mixed vibes
I guess I will play Vanilla first and then FCR if I care enough for a second playthrough

Trish was the worst thing to happen to Gerald.
I absolutely loved FCR. Played it on one of the hard modes and spent about fifty hours playing through the game again having a wonderful time.
>>321507572
Install only the convenience features from the FCR installer (999 stacks, etc.) and install "stuff that make Geralt's life easier." (storage anywhere, meditate anywhere, and cat vision on command) All essential.
Also, the scabbard mod bugs out a lot but it fits the sheath animations better and looks great. (must be installed over previous mods after starting the game and saving)
This was what I decided on when I started and I enjoyed it.
>>321507572
white wolf, sheath and cat eyes for other witcher mods are all you need.
