Tactics ogre, but I like final fantasy tactics a lot too. I actually just played it recently so that might be why I'm slightly biased towards it.

If you're talking about PSP versions, then Tactics Ogre, because of the severe slowdown issues with the PSP version of FFT.

Otherwise, they're both about the same.

you have to take things like terrain into consideration when launching projectiles. If the enemy has the high ground, you're pretty much fucked.

Tactics Ogre is better in every aspect. FFT is still good and thrives off the addicting benefit of FF having such a good job system to begin with.

I'd say FFT has a better magic system, though.

I'd say Tactics Ogre LUCT, if you can get a firm grasp of the system. FFT has simplicity, or rather a more refined system based off TO. I like TO's story a bit more, FFT does tend to go a little over the top when you fight demons and shit. I'd say TO's characters are more complex, but FFT's are more endearing. Of course TO has replayability going for it after you finish the story, FFT by the time you get to the last two chapters there's not a whole lot to do besides the Beowulf questline, and Deep Dungeon. TO's Lady Knights look better.

I finished FFTA and it was easy as fuck, but I loved it.

I'm currently trying to get into FFT and I'm not a big fan of it. I don't really like the chaotic job system and game throws archers at me while 1/3 of my team is controlled with AI and the rest are knights or black mages.

My guess is TO's its a system not everyone likes, it has some pros like leveling the class not the characters. So you can take a fresh recruit turn and turn them into a level 15 Archer because thats what the classes' level is at.

It's fun, more refined overall than FFTA. Nerfs a few broken combos like Assassin/Concentration and replaced them with a shitload of new broken things. Hope you like humes.
Main story is garbage, has a million little side stories that are much more interesting

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Tactics Ogre each level you get makes a huge difference, correct? A level 4 guy will often win when going toe to toe with a level 3 guy? Does this continue as levels get into the 20s, 30s, 40s, and further?

Tactics Ogre's class system was fine. Archers were worthless against dragons and golems, and new (better) classes coming at level 1 was totally balanced - you'd have to drag around a weak unit as an item user for a few chapters before they would catch up. Training several classes was important so you could reclass and gain certain skills (earlier or exclusively available to certain classes). And you actually needed to keep your units together to keep them safe, unlike in FFT where you could just run around OHKOing everything.
