That's not what that means or how it works. Valve is not a bank that the whole of society depends on, they sell hobby goods to manchildren. Last time there was an issue Valve gave away CS:GO, which came out around a year after. They haven't had any other large releases other than Dota2 which is free.

It literally is a bank that people depend on. It's the only place to get most big budget games on the pc and the reason those games got ports in the first place. Hell, even Japs are starting to wake up to the pc market. Without steam there will be nothing to crack.
