You can launch if from either if you bought it on Steam, and if you bought a hard copy/amazon download it's Uplay only, so there are plenty of people that tracker isn't trracking correctly- and with 10k people online right now, that means there's plenty of people playing.

You are just being disingenuous and artificially trying to inflate player base where there is none. And people that have Steam do not launch from Uplay, they launch from Steam.

As someone who has had a game that did the whole Steam-> Uplay thing, it's honestly a hassle to launch them from Steam because if you aren't logged into Uplay it just brings up the Uplay login, and then you have to launch from Steam again- if you're already logged in from Uplay might as fucking well just launch it directly from there since it's going to go there anyway.
And I'm not even saying there's that much above 10k, just that, yes, there are more than 10k. And I'm still confused as to how you somehow think 10k players is a "dead game". It's a 5v5 game with matchmaking, it'd only be 'dead' if it were down to like 500, because at that point you'd just start running into the same people over and over. If it was a game with independent servers it'd be a different issue, since then you run the risk of having a fuckton of empty servers.
