Shinji Mikami invented survival horror in gaming with Resident Evil 1 and Dino Crisis. He revolutionized third-person shooters with Resident Evil 4, the game that is basically the godfather of the modern third-person shooter. He also made the world's greatest 3rd person beat-em-up with God Hand,
Hideki Kamiya has made some of the best action games ever with Devil May Cry (the godfather of stylish character action games), Bayonetta (arguably the best example of the game in the series), The Wonderful 101, Viewtiful Joe and also great action-RPGs like Okami (one of the best Zelda games ever). He also made Resident Evil 2, which is one of the best games in the franchise.
Kojima needs no explanation.
Miyazaki, on the other hand, is a one-trick pony who does Souls rehashes and a somewhat decent sequel to Armored Core.

The game that exploded in popularity around the world and inspired people was RE4, not any of the SOCOM titles. That's why so many games that came in the mid-2000s onwards were called "RE4 Clones" instead of "SOCOM Clones".
Think about it this way. Just because there was already a Berserk game on the Dreamcast that allowed you to juggle opponents in the air that came out before Devil May Cry 1, doesn't mean that the Berserk game is the godfather of the modern stylish character action genre. The game that came first was the Berserk game. But the game that inspired everyone was DMC1.
