It's one of those "OMG THIS IS SO HARD IM A PRO GAMER" games, but the "difficulty" feels pretty unfair since RNG can fuck you over 100x harder than in Isaac.

The worst I can think of is bad level generation stuff (corner by enemies or something like that), and even that can be overtake pretty easy if you know what you're doing.
After more than 50 hours, I consistently get to 5-3 with no problem (the ice boss is a bitch) and even get to the throne half the time.

I like it. It doesn't feel like the kind of game I can play for 3 hours at a time though. An hour here and there is nice enough. I don't think any Vlambeer game has ever held me enough to play for hours and hours at a time. Still, I enjoy them. I like Vlambeer.

5-3 is one of those points where RNG can fuck you the hardest. If you didn't pick up the right weapons or the game decides to spawn you in the middle of a clusterfuck of enemies with no cover, good luck.

5-3 fucks you not because of RNG but because of how erratic Lil' Hunter is compared to all the other enemies in the game up until that point. Very rarely will you actually spawn in a situation where you have no options, most of his kills on you is likely because you do not yet understand how to bait him properly and when it's safe to push/when you should back the fuck off.

Not many unlockables (characters, skins and some minor stuff) and not many secrets (the ones in are pretty sweet), you depend of your own skill from the beginning (and good judgement to choose the right mutations each time), so you have to progressively git gud to enjoy everything.

Steroids and Robot are worse. Rogue's ultras actually do something and she essentially has Invincibility frames on taking damage due to her blast armor. She's my favorite personally, IDPD are easy to deal with once you understand their AI.

No. The main problem with the game is that late game runs you pretty much NEED a mutation called Strong Spirit, which works like an overshield that prevents you from dying at 1 hp one time per level, since they added Elite IDPD and Vans that can kill you in one hit, which can be hard to avoid (not impossible but sometimes unreasonably difficult) due to level generation putting you in bad situations.
Everything before the post-game is more than fair.

It occasionally crashes. Other than that I've never run into any actual gameplay glitches or bugs.
There's been patches in the past that have fucked up the game for a day or so though. But they're usually good at fixing it.
