Will this ever get a sequel?

Also, are there more games like this? Please respond.

Odin Sphere and Dragon's Crown.

I don't have a PS3 anymore
>>
Odin Sphere if you want a proper story.
Dragon's Crown if you just want Vanillaware's 2D.
>>
>>321407709
Odin Sphere it's getting a rerelease on ps4
>>
How well does this game run on Dolphin?
Also, do I need a Wiimote to play this?
>>
>>321407709
Odin Sphere is on PS2. Also, Princess Crown. But I doubt you speak Japanese or own a Saturn either.
>>
>>321407709
The original is on PS2 (and emulatable), and the remake is coming out on PS3, PS4, and Vita. I'm sure you can find a way to play it.
>>
>>321407986
It runs fine, and you don't need a Wiimote. Although the Vita version is much better, so play that if you get the chance to.

Don't have Vita and I kinda want to play it.

Yeah you can really see that vanillaware has improved ever since they made dragon's crown. the new characters from the dlcs are very fun to play as compared to momo and kisuke
>>
>>321407516
You could start by playing the real version. Not the freeware version for hacked wii's
>>
>>321408165
How's the Vita version better?
>>
>>321408304
No, it's not. Shitafags just try to push this because they barely have any games worth a shit.
>>
>>321408304
Wat? it's not bad at all. I only played it, when it came out, and it was great.
>>
>>321408304
Not at all. Only flaw really is the more barebones translation job XSEED did but otherwise it plays fine. Vita owners will complain to no end about the controls, though.
>>
>>321408463
Jump is on X instead of up on d-pad, the translation is improved and it had a bunch of DLC
>>
>>321408463
New translation instead of the butchered Wii one, DLC is great, somewhat better graphics (540p vs 480p, and it looks pretty on the OLED screen).
That's more or less it, as far as the core gameplay goes they play the same.
>>
>>321408304
Vita version only has an improved translation and the ability to customize controls in the base game. It's the dlc that everyone gushes over.
>>
>>321408304
Translation on the Wii ain't so good (very literal) and jump is mapped to a less than favorable button, but that can be adjusted via emulator. Only thing the Vita game has over the Wii is the DLC.
>>
>>321408574
It was Ignition, not XSEED.

wii version has worse controls, a worse translation, and less content

it's not worth buying a vita over, but don't spout nonsense like that
>>
>>321408769
>(very literal)
If anything it's the opposite, the Vita version is the very literal one. The Wii translation just made up stuff and straight-up skipped lines, because whoever was working on it didn't give a shit.
>>
>>321408793
Huh, I could've sworn XSEED had a hand in it.
>>
>>321408924
Nope, Ignition on the Wii and Aksys on the vita

Shit, honestly this sounds kinda appealing
>>
It's fun how the dlc ties into the main games
>Okoii becomes a cat monster that is slain by Jinkuro in one end but curses him before it dies, thus causing him to fall ill
>Gonbe's exorcised by the Tengu loli in the end where he becomes a ghost
>Arashimaru is from the same ninja clan as Kisuke and some dialogue references Kisuke. The chinese skeleton final boss also had Jinkuro's sword and used the technique to possess Arashimaru's body in the second end
>Rajyaki's husband tries to flirt with Jinkuro possessed Momohime at the start of the dlc.

>>
>>321408872
The other explanation to this is that they had a limited number of characters to fit into the text box, so they had to resume everything to lower the word count.
>>
>>321409526
That's honestly a lot less drastic than I hear people hyping it up to be.
>>
>>321409938
Those are some random screens from the early game. Later on in the game there's some way dumber stuff.
>>
>>321409526
The fuck? Wii version ultimately provides the same essence that Vita version has, only in more direct way, without needless bullshit and fucking around.
>>
>>321410124
The needless bullshit is part of the spice of the writing, it's supposed to be quite the decorated dialogue to make it match the older japanese setting.
>>
>>321410124
The "needless bullshit" is the actual game's script. The original version is chock full of archaic Japanese fitting the game's setting, in the Wii version it's just gone.
It's fair to still prefer the Wii translation in terms of straightforwardness, but the Vita one is a way, way, better work.
>>
>>321408312
But kisuke and momohime are fine.
>>
>>321412134
They're fine but Gonbe and Rajyaki are just too much fun.

I've played both versions. The Wii translation can be confusing at times and make some scenes clunky because and subtext were sometimes omitted.

You can tell Ignition (the company that did the translation for the Wii) was aiming the translation at kids. Sometimes sexual subtext is rewritten to be completely nonsexual, and the simplicity of the translation was to spare children from being intimidated by large chunks of text.
>>
>>321408574
Why do people always home in on the script and not the fact that the Vita version straight up has more content? Isn't that the actual reason to play it over the Wii one?
>>
>>321415537
I guess it's because the content isn't packaged in.
