I snagged a 7970, which the 280x is a rebrand of, for $110 last year.

It's still a great card for 1080p, but the 970 destroys it and was on sale for $250 a few weeks ago.

I got one because of the sale.

Well shit, I understand then. It's a great card still, to be sure. So great that the 380X just released a few weeks ago and performs exactly the same as it.

Also, yes the 970 is faster but it's also newer and more expensive.

The 960 competes with the 7970/280x/380x but generally loses out because shitbandwidth.

discounted 970s and 390s are the best bang for buck right now, and once the new GPU families from AMD and Nvidia come out they'll be even cheaper
