Do I need a high end PC to play this game at a stable framerate?
I did. But no one should.

I don't buy early access games, no matter how ambitious they are or how good they look. Learned my lesson with DayZ and Starbound.

To each their own. I think it's pretty great. Infantry combat was one of my favorite things about PR and as Squad currently is it's Infantry Simulator 2015. I think they said that some vehicles would be added by the end of January.
I love PR, ARMA 2 and Insurgency but I don't love 45 dollar early access games

I play it on my laptop, i5-2450m, gtx570m and 8gb ram. Everything off and on lowest but it still looks better than project reality. Resolution on 100% though or else it'll be pixelated as fuck. I also tweaked some config files as per this thread: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/5869-performance-tweaks-for-extra-fps/
I'm able to play it at around 30fps or so. It's do-able but i'm building a new pc anyway so i'll play it all at max when it's out of EA

Game is hard to compare to Insurgency except for the US vs Insurgent athetic, it is more similair to Arma, but you actually get people working together on public servers (good luck not finding complete shitters on any arma pub server). I can have good PVP gameplay on large terrains without signing up for events with some sperglord group.
