The gameplay suffered heavily in the single player playthrough because of the shitty level design that hamper your pace and movement.
Its a heck lotsa better in the multiplayer simply because the map is more open and you're not constrained by the god awful corners and hallway.

My first Ninja Gaiden game was 2. I played it and beat Master Ninja. Then my 360 broke, so I couldn't download Black on XBL.
So I borrowed by cousin's PS3 and played Sigma 1 on it.
As soon as I beat Normal mode, I started Hard mode. That's when I learned that the game didn't have NG+.
And I read up online and, yes, you MUST collect 50 scarabs AGAIN in each playthrough to get the weapons.
So I said fuck that and dropped the game after beating it on Normal.
