What is your favorite civ in Civ 5?

Shoshone or China.
Shoshone are the comfiest Civ, good at everything, nice early power and transitions well late because of free tiles out the asshole.
China is my favorite war Civ because CKN are fucking based.
Japan and Russa because I only know how to go to war.

How do you guys play at higher difficulty levels without smashing your mouse against the wall?
A.I. cheats so blatantly it's fucking enraging.

>end up in the middle part of the continent, stone's throw away from England
>explore further to the north and find Poland
>landmass isn't terribly big so I end up exploring it all pretty quickly

>England seems alright, nothing unusual

Single settler takes 20 turn for me to build and I got shitload of mines and cattle around while he got one patch of wheat and whole lot of useless sand.
This might not be such a big deal but for the first time I got to see how badly A.I. cheats and it made me go bananas.

Assyria, they have a fucking GREAT bonus if you are going to expand/conquer early game and then focus largely on science (which is typical for me).
Siege Tower is also a really nice unique unit as is the Royal Library in regards to unique buildings.

I don't know why, but I always tend to make a handful of cities and focus on money so I can shit out units with cash. It's effective for everything but domination but it just gets boring.

I rarely give any credence to my income level as long as it is positive, I buy buildings way more often than units unless I'm in a really serious war and attacked from multiple sides at once.

It's a hard choice, but probably Songhai.
There are definitely lots of different situations where I'd prefer to play different civs, and Spain used to be my all-around favorite. But from experience, I feel I can go into any game type or map type as Songhai, and generally do well.
Major shoutout though to Venice and Indonesia though.

Amazing
Byzantium, though they're admittedly pretty lacklustre in vanilla even if they can do a cheesy cultural victory if you have a good desert start.
Using the CPP mod, they're pretty fucking boss since cataphracts are basically a medieval unit that you can build in the ancient era, and because cities are weaker and cavalry are generally more powerful than in vanilla.

I play almost solely multiplayer with a draft system, and I always hope for Persia or Inca. They're usually the most fun for me there. Of course I don't mind the broken civs like Babylon/Korea/Poland, etc. but they're usually banned.
In SP, I love Aztecs. Their UB gives insane growth. Or Poland, but Poland is just overpowered,

Civ has always kind had the same problem as Final Fantasy in that the only way they could think of to increase the difficulty was to 'GIB MOAR HEALTHz0rZ!!1! XDXDXD!11!1one!'.

I get so filthy rich from the bonus money in sea trade routes and the unique caravel is op as fuck when you begin exploring the world.

I once had a Rome game where I took over literally half the map for shits and giggles. I had like 30+ cities, it was fucking dumb. Thank god for that bonus that let me build shit faster if I had that building in my capital already because goddamn some of the cities I was taking from other civs were complete shitholes with no resources and no trade routes.

You can get Great Library fairly reliably on Emperor. It's fucking impossible on Diety/Immortal, however.
And it's the best wonder in the game, so if you play on lower difficulties you should go GL 100% of the time. I hate this shit.
