Undertale - Lots of people don't enjoy this game, and if you didn't buy into the hype when it first came out then it might not be the best choice. That being said I loved it and think it's great, but the charm of the game isn't for everyone. You have to be in the right mindset going into this game. It's going to be cheesy, it's going to be different, and it'll be great.
Civ 5 - If you're getting this, get the expansions too.
Fallouts - Nothing needs to be said. You know what to expect. 1&2 are very different from 3+.
Stalker - I never could get into them. It's a love or hate kinda game.

Shovel Knight is a fucking amazing game and if it wasn't on sale I'd still recommend it. It's leaps and bounds better than Broforce and I'd assume it's significantly better than Darius Burst too. Seriously this game is awesome.

Ori and the Blind Forest was really damn good. I'd recommend it. It made my wife cry, I don't know if yours enjoys watching playthroughs but if so she'll probably like this the most.
Bastion is pretty good, the soundtrack is god tier, I thought it was overhyped but definitely good.
Portal 2 is more of the same, you should know if you'd like it. Never tried the co-op though.
Atilla is better than Rome 2 by far, but I'd argue that it's a mediocre Total War game. Only pick it up if you're craving a Total War game and have exhausted the greats.

Papers Please was really fun, albiet extremely short.
Mount & Blade was a niche but fun title. I enjoyed it for a short while as well.

GTA 5 was honestly quite disappointing. Only pick it up if you're craving a GTA game. It's a weaker GTA title, but more of the same regardless.
Rust sucked, I wouldn't recommend it at all.
Vermintide was one of the best games I've played all year, but only get it if you have at least one other buddy to play it with.

Disagree, BoI is a great game. It does require a time commitment to git gud though, unless you're already familiar with gameplay like it. It's definitely a snowball effect, the more you play the better you get and the more item you unlock.

Disgaea PC isn't worth getting - Emulate Disgaea for PS2. It's got the best voice acting and shit.
MGS5 was a lot of fun but its final chapter basically makes you repeat missions while handicapping you. It's no MGS3, its story is bad, and the gameplay gets repetitive nearing the end of the game, but the gameplay is fun for a short while. I'd pirate it though because of Konami.

I've really enjoyed Darkest Dungeon, I strongly recommend it. I know it's early access (I try to avoid that) but as of now it's still 100% playable, and quite a fun time. Dev(s) actually work consistently on putting out content for it, and tweaking things based on feedback.
It's, as far as I'm concerned, the most ideal outcome of the early access system.

I kind of agree with you, although I thought Dead Money was alright.
Honest Hearts was a pretty big disappointment for me, as I was really interested in Joshua Graham, but the location and setting felt really uninspired and came of as really bland.
