Which game has the highest skill ceiling?
Seems like modern games are made for casual players and there's no point spending more than 1000 hours on them (e.g. CSGO, DOTA, SC2).
Pretty much any fightan game.
After that, Quake 1/2 and GunZ.

aww hell no
when it comes to 'real time' games, rts games is where its at
>>321198530
>Quake 1/2
why
Fighting games, because even if you have perfect execution you still need to outplay your opponent mentally.
>>321198843
RTS literally just comes down to build orders.
>>321198961
actually pulling off consistent domination takes more skill in Quake 1/2 than 3.

Whats going in there?
>>321198843
RTS, as a genre, will always be inferior to FPS and fightan because RTS games are less interactive by their nature.

>even if you have perfect execution
Saying it like that makes it sound like that's the main aspect of fighting games, and that the interactive part is secondary.
Rhythm games.

>You don't have momentum on your running jump
>Sakurai: "I realized that proper physics were just not enjoyable, and momentum on your running jumps was too competitive so I just fucked it all up, enjoy the DLC."
Whoever kept him in line for Melee did a fantastic job and holding back this fucking manchild. Either that or he actually tried in Melee to keep his fucking job. Which he doesn't have to do now because he turned into a real life meme, that casual pandering fuck.

Warband has a pretty damn high skill ceiling of you play multiplayer
>>321199753
Combo fetishists would lead you to believe that games with strict execution requirements and difficult combos makes it a better game.

I really hate how osu is just a glorified jackhammer
real men play

Yeah sure
>>321198329
>1000 hours on Dota 2
You're gutter trash with only 1k hours played
>>321202881
what fps isnt point and click
>>321203208
the difference between someone with 1,000 hours and somebody with 10,000 hours is negligible in dota. in a game like cs 1.6 the difference is HUGE therefore dota has a low skill ceiling.
>>321203363
>this is what 2k actually believe lmao
dota has an infinite room for improvements
>>321198329
CS go is by far the game with the highest skill ceiling simply because it's infinite.
Too bad /v/ is full with console cucks that can't lower their crosshair and blame it on muh RNG.
>>321203450
>infinite
you mean marginal? if you're 90% there after 1000 hours the game is absolute shite.
1000 hours on a good game means you've just understood how to play.

After they removed bhopping, ladder strafing, noscoping, spraying, and introduced ADADA on pistols, aim punch with no armor you can no longer say with a straight face that CSGO has a high skill ceiling.
Probably Quake Live and Quake 3. To even get near the skill ceiling you have to be able to time three to four items placed around the map to the second while also being able to track your opponent's position/health/armor/weapon inventory through map awareness and gamesense, as well as apply that knowledge in real time to be able to dynamically position yourself for any given situation, and at the same time perform advanced movement tricks where one misstep can cost you an important item and thus probably the whole match, and master several different weapons and be able to use them most effectively in the various situations you are given, and that's just a basic explanation of some of the skills you need to perform well in a 1v1, imagine doing all of that and even more, simultaneously, while your opponent is also doing the same things and pressuring you.
>Hurf Quake is just point and click
I can't tell if this is just bait or genuine cluelessness nowadays
>>321203969
well you are certainly not going to reach that point in 1000 hours. Id say 3k h will do it if you really commit to it
>>321204231
it's not just point and click, you also need to occasionally press W, A, S, D and Space

Thank you, I didn't have to mention IIDX first.
Beatmania IIDX is one of the strongest contenders for the title. 2000+ note charts with 2 frames to hit each note perfectly. Good luck have fun.
There's still plenty of charts that nobody has hit literally 100% on, and that's with the series being around for fifteen years and still ongoing.
