Seems Sony shipped massive amounts of PS4s to retailers; insiders on NeoGAF from Best Buy, WalMart, and GameStop recalled there being massive quantities of SWBF bundles in the warehouses on Black Friday (which was odd until Sony announced $299 for the SWBF bundle from Dec 6th-19th). However, looks like demand for PS4s is still too high in this busy holiday season for Sony to keep up.
The $299 SWBF bundle and NDC bundle were hovering constantly at the #1 and #3 spots on the Amazon sales charts, until the NDC bundle promptly sold out a few days ago, followed by the SWBF bundle selling out yesterday. For the sake of comparison, the only Xbox One SKU in the top 50 is hovering at around #17 despite being the same price ($299), and the Wii U is uncharted (no pun intended)
Looks like the PS4 is almost Wii status in terms of sales this holiday with no signs of stopping, and some incredible games to push momentum in 2016 and beyond.

What, as opposed to the other two? Face it anon, consoles have been a massive part of the industry for ages now, and multiplats have been a significant and growing thing since 6th generation. That many devs will consider at least one console is a given, you can't change it and neither can I.
So as long as they are developing with one in mind, I'd just as much assume it is the most powerful one. That has the least negative effect on PC gaming. And if they only have to worry about a single one (so two platforms, PC+one console instead of PC+1+2+3 consoles) then that means more resources to add some extra TLC to the PC version. This is simple economic logic.
And for jap devs in particular who make console exclusives, again if that's how it is I'd prefer they were all on the best platform and made with the best platform in mind.

Nope, the purpose is for the games anon. Most people in the world do not in fact have multiple platforms. Even in America, PC growth has flatlined and is clearly never going to approach the level that TVs got, particularly not now that more and more people are switching purely to mobile/tablets for that aspect of their experience instead (and with good reason). They do not have a gaming PC as well, they are picking one system for their games.

Of that, most of them are notebooks and of the desktops most are not gaming PCs.
Most people do not want to build their own computers and never will, it'd be too expensive given the rest of their life. So it's OEM or nothing. And $300 doesn't get a great gaming PC, even ignoring other upkeep issues normals have. Don't try to tell me that "a real gamer will make it up on quality and how much money they save on software" because I know that, it's one of the reasons I have one. So yeah, multiplats on consoles matter if one console can play them better then the others.

But I'm not such a faggot that I can't see lots of people like them and that there are solid production values in something like Frostbite. That goes double for any overall genre I dislike. My opinion on sports games would be worthless for example because I just don't like sports games. No, don't confuse a fundamental, expensive gimmick that causes compromises to the entire offering with a more traditional GIMMICK that basically does nothing either way. To take the PS4 directly for example, it absolutely has a few gimmicks. The most obviously one would be the lightbar in the DS4, which is pretty much either worthless or worse then worthless (distracting reflection and sucks up battery life).
But it also is just a bunch of simple wired LEDs and a diffuser an thus costs pennies, not $150. The PS4 core hardware was not compromised by BOM reductions due to Sony's gimmicks, including their crap camera. They tried a few experimental things, but none of them ever fell into the category of core engineering, they were just cheap addons. Whether they worked or not had little effect.
The Wii U's tablet and Kinect in contrast were very expensive and their by default to be used. Much of the value offering of Nintendo and Microsoft was supposed to be based around them. And due to the cost on the BOM, they had to reduce the amount of silicon and such inside their systems. When they didn't end up as runaway successes, the result was that their consoles were fundamentally gimped vs the PS4. If Microsoft had put all $500+ into silicon instead they would have curbstomped the PS4 in terms of performance.

That Sony hasn't had a number of consumer friendly policies they've stuck with, like standard easy owner upgradeable SATA HDDs with no proprietary shit, or standard USB/Bluetooth? They haven't been flawless at all, but compared to the other two the PS4 is far and away the better approach. Nintendo has access to the same foundries and AMD licensing that the others use, this isn't like the old days where it's all bespoke. Nintendo (let alone MS) could easily have matched the PS4 in hardware and then run away with superior software. I like Nintendo for their IP, their hardware has been a negative rather then a positive for a long time now, but it doesn't have to be anymore.
What's your issue with this? Do you actually LIKE region locking? Or bad hardware? If Nintendo's software guys had way more to work with do you somehow think they wouldn't be capable of utilizing it?
