What he did wrong was that he was retarded as fuck.
His hideout was not hidden well enough, and travelling there by car is not good at all.
It's fine to have it under a shack in the woods, however, the grounds have to be private, but not too unwelcome as to avoid raising suspicion. Also only travel there by bike or foot, without making a trail. If a trail is made it needs to be removed.
The entrance to the hideout should not be hidden so plainly in the barn. There are two things that can be done. 1. Have the entrance made of wood like the rest of the floor, have a button on your person that allows an entrance through the wood, 2. have an uncovered entrance to a cellar-like area that just looks like a run-down old cellar in a barn, with a secret way to enter, or a button on your person, to access a doorway leading to the hideout.
He also spoke too much like a psycopath in public, you need to put a lid on that shit, can't just spout it in public, what if someone catches onto the fact you're a weirdo, that's already far too close to finding your hideout.
He clearly had the funds to do all this, so why didn't he? Because he was stupid. He didn't even savour the moments.

Of course he was not followed for every waking moment of his life. If he speaks this passionately about his art, which is his entire life trade, then there's no stopping him from saying even worse things in other situations. I think they did a great job in keeping his psycho tendencies hard to spot during most of the game, with just enough hints that an observant player might notice something is up. He generally flies under the player's radar and if you don't closely examine him then he seems like a totally normal, cool teacher dude.

Yes, it's probably the best version of those Telltale style story-based adventure games. It does have a decent amount of highschool drama type stuff though is if you really dislike that then you might not get into it, you'll know within the first 2 hours whether it interests you or not

Damn that was good. Only time on the game where I was really blown away from being impressed. That's such a small thing and after the dogs name becomes common knowledge, it's easy to forget the means in which you obtained the name. Them putting that option there is a trap, and I fucking love it because it was so easy to fall into. If they had done more shit like that, this game could've been the game to kill Telltale.

That's because this game isn't built on touting its choices as some major feature that will dramatically change things as you go in. Since TWD people have known that these sorts of games are 95% linear storytelling with a few changed lines of dialogue, and they've come to terms with that. ME was a multi year spanning series sold from the start on the idea of choices in one game affecting things in the sequel.
Also ME3's ending was actually atrocious, while LIS' is just kinda rushed

We're used to developers being lazy shits now. ME3 came out before the whole choices thing became a trend, in fact the Mass Effect series pioneered that style of story telling in a way. So when they fucked up, they really fucked up. Nowadays everyone is used to choices not mattering, for better or for worse. It sucked when they don't, but we get over it and it's not a huge blow like ME3.
