So I'm in Chapter 2 at the moment, and I think it beats FC in some ways but also doesn't compare to FC in some other ways.
For players who are new to the Trails games, Cold Steel might be a better place to start. It feels like more is happening in the game, combat is much more fun, etc. On the other hand, FC has some things that I am not sure Cold Steel will ever be able to replace. That could theoretically change when I finish the three Cold Steel games, but as of now my preference is FC although Cold Steel might be a more "fun" overall game.
