Actually, that doesn't sound too bad.

The Thing needs an Alien Isolation type thing
>>
>>321172729

It would be amazing if it was random each time you played, and if you did well to keep people together you could end up with only 1 or 2 Things, but if you're reckless like splitting up, you could end up with Thing majority.
There would HAVE to be bad ends, forcing a restart. I dunno. Maybe have it radomized between 4 different people in the beginning.
>>
>>321172840
That makes no sense.
>>
>>321172948

I'm tired

I'm trying to say it should have the visual effects of Alien Isolation with it's focus on environment as well.

Telltale's games are for the most part well written but their engine is fucking buggy garbage.
>>
ttg haven't made a good game in well over 5 years
>>
>>321172840
You mean graphics
Having a similar game makes little sense

The whole point of the thing is that it's a perfect imitation that doesn't attack unless it has time to absorb or needs to.

So a game about it would be one extreme or the other, a paranoia filled survival were you have to keep track of everyone and keep watch for suspicious activity or a full on dead space hoarde mode which is what the previous thing game was.
>Check an NPC with a blood test

That game was horrible in everything except atmosphere

What if it played more like The Ship video game mixed with Alien Isolation?

Large open base, people without any means of killing the Thing would have to break off into teams to complete tasks like starting generators (that the Thing players can sabotage). They would have to periodically have to sleep, eat, and various other things.

Maybe have the master Thing player, play it like a RTS, having a view of the entire base and players, but the other Thing players would play just like the other survivors, but would be able to convert them over if they manage to get alone with another player.

Obviously things would have to be done to ensure people don't just camp around, maybe like a timer ensuring people are constantly moving, and if people are together too much, it will take too long to beat the level, forcing them to separate.

I dunno. Any other ideas?
>>
I'd prefer it be made by the original Silent Hill team

There was a The Thing game on PS2, but I have no idea what it's like. Though if I had to guess it was probably a RE-like or something, gameplay-wise.

Space Station 13 can fill out a lot of the things you posted.
>>

I'd prefer it if the studio that made Until Dawn did the game.

Just having a bunch of different death scenes and a few points where you have to guess who is the thing or not should add some fair variation and replayability.

>Telltale's horrible game engine
This. For this game they'd need better production values to truly deliver on the horror. You could implement the basic concept of it with their crappy style, but it would look cheap, and Telltale isn't exactly known for their generous branching in their storylines. The interesting idea for having The Thing as a game would be for you yourself to decide who you think is The Thing and then live or die with the consequences. If it's Telltale executing it where your choices don't matter, it might as well stay a movie and just a movie.
>>

Holy shit, fuck yes. That is an excellent concept.

How the hell would they execute this though? I guess they could make the whole game like 2 - 3 hours, so that they could have just fucking tonnes and tonnes of dialogue and branching scenarios and encounters etc. You could play the game through several times and have 90% of the content each time being completely different.

The only analogue coming to mind is Lylat wars having completely different paths, but this would obviously be far more complex and have a lot of unique elements etc.

Why would anyone split up though? There has to be some risk/reward to splitting up your people, otherwise it isn't even decision making. I guess you could make it so if you split up your group, you can scavenge for resources quicker, but I doubt Telltale games would ever implement something like that that's actually like a real game.

>>
>>321179935
It could be a psychological thing, maybe other characters start getting stressed or start to doubt there chances with group survival.
Maybe like you said with resources.
Maybe the thing will sometimes try and get the group to split up.
Maybe there will be moments where if you make the wrong move you'll be forced to split up, like you fall down a mineshaft or you and some of your friends do. Once you make it back up maybe the group you left behind all got taken over, or maybe if you didn't fall but others did and when they come back they were taken over.
