It was amazing, and back than not everyone on the internet was in this stupid trolling mentality but damn if that game wasn't perfect for that.

When you think about it, it was simple numbers tuning and rigid mechanics that made those games "hard" but it was amazing.
The only real difference was very hard with some of the enemy placement and replacement with stronger creatures just being balls crazy.

It was harder than the remake, Chris's run was a fuckton harder having to unlock everything with small keys, the corridors felt stretchier and if you played the first version without dualshock you were constantly fucked up by the tank controls. Also there were more enemies placed in each area.
However both are good games and Survival and Invisible enemies mode in REmake makes it quite a hard game to even beat, let's not say speedrun.

I agree with you 100% that. REmake hugely downgraded the puzzles but most people in this thread wouldn't know that as they refuse to even acknowledge the original RE1.
