It's a gamble. For some people it works with few to no crashes, for others unplayable. PS3 version works but is laggy. The only good versions are the 360 and Japanese PS3 releases.

It crashes quite a bit, and there's a game breaking bug that can happen in Chapter 9. Some people can use DPfix, but like others said it doesn't work for everyone. I managed to finish the game without fixes, but it was a pain.

dunno what the fix guy is going on about, I used the fix as well as a bunch of other workarounds and the game would frequently crash on loading areas resulting in a lot of lost time

You can skip the combat, unless you're required to kill them at some parts (I don't even remember if you're required to do that). I remember doing a 2nd run just running past enemies.

Don't worry about meeting people at the right time, you won't lose if you make them wait a day. Go for the free lunch at the police station whenever you can for funny interactions. Sprint when opening doors, and click through the notifications when picking up items to save time.

There's a few areas where you can't get through without fighting.
The wall crawlers in the art gallery were terrible on my first run, because I didn't know they were only vulnerable for one hit before disappearing, and I was using the machine gun.

Not really, the gameplay is easy to grasp and there's enough cutscenes for you to get the story though context. You will miss out on all the text interaction in the bases though.
