Modern dubs are nearly always inexcusably bad. English voice actors tend to have far less range (or they just don't try) so you get people like Troy Baker, Nolan North and Yuri Lowenthal who appear so prolifically that you can barely tell the difference between the characters they voice. I won't even start with female English voice actors who usually sound so goddamn bored and uninterested that I can't even be bothered to try and think of an example where I didn't hate them (good examples of bad female VA are P3/P4).
Anyway, it's coming to PC so I'm sure at some point we'll get an undub so I won't have to mute voices during the story.

Just bugs me that the default solution nowadays is to abandon JP audio altogether instead of focusing on providing options to the players. I forget which game did it recently (I think Ar Nosurge for PS3/Vita) but I would gladly download or pay for JP audio as DLC if that's what it takes to get it every time. I'm aware that seiyuu contracts can get really fucking nightmarish.

VA's usually get a cut of the profits. Jp VA's tend to get such a big cut that it's cheaper to redub it in english.
Usually when a game is dub-only that means they have licensing issues with the studio they used for JP voices. I'm sure it's much cheaper to reuse JP voices instead of dubbing new voices.

Vita is dead in the west. Printing physical copies mean they are expecting an x amount of customers purchasing it. Meanwhile if it's digital only then they sell whatever amount they need to without worrying about overstocking.

I just played some Fallout 4 in Japanese, which is an AAA game, not a niche dub. But even, then the Japanese voice acting is pretty good.
