I honestly prefer it this way.
I am an Aussie and my internet is shit tier and cuts out all the fucking time, sometimes for over a day it will be fucked. Now I don't have to have a heart attack that something on my wishlist will have a flash sale while my internet is fucked again and I will miss it. I also don't have to wait till last day to buy everything as well.

I'd say it's probably due to the implementation of refunds.
The whole point of flash sales was impulse buying and pawning off extra licenses on people without worrying about having to give back money. Now that anyone can easily get their money back, they aren't going to offer rapid deals.
By the same token, I pretty much never bought anything on flash sales, so it's no hair off my back.
I like having sales that last for a week or two. PlayStation just has a sale every fortnight outside of Christmas.
