Cole only faced with the First Sons, which was headed by Kessler in the first game. Didn't show up in 2 at all, although I know there was some EU stuff in comics and shit that dealt with the fallout of 1 that was never referenced in 2 (what happened to Moya and Sasha, for instance). But yeah, I originally thought Second Son was a direct reference to the First Sons.
