I suppose I'm to blame for that. When doing the concept stage for Gencon imapct. I wanted to make the characters a bit more..believable (?). as characters I guess. I didnt wanna stray too much from their original designs (the ones that Planet of Junk had came up, which are now the most accepted ones) but tweak'em a bit. I heard that the 3DS, and DS we're made for more of a "on the go" city lifestyle. So I kinda wanted to reflect that on their designs a little. I I took Junk's design, and made the hair a bit longer, and gave her some clothes, that maybe a teenager int he city would wear. A Letterman, and some cut jeans, for that rebellious teenager feel. When I showed it to a friend, they said. "It kinda looks like Ryuko" I thought it was a bit funny, as when doing that god awful SMASH comic. I kinda wanted to make 3D that tomboyish, abrasive type. Giving her that archetype of Naruto, Chie, or Ryuko kinda character. (but a bit more bearable) At first, I thought it wouldn't go over so well. but The design grew on me. And it made me a bit more confident, when I passed the designs over to Junk, for approval. And found out he liked it alot. Then other's seems to enjoy it as well. Alot seem to like the denim jean shorts.

Well thats the thing. I know some may disagree, which is completely fine. but I try to find a sweet medium with the characters. We all like the designs, and we all (more or less) like the consoles their based off of. And half the charm of these characters, comes from their archetypes, and personalities. All the industry related jokes are cool, and such. But I wanted to make something, that people who maybe were'nt in the know how, would still enjoy the character themselves. Or maybe someone, who doesn't like te Wiiu as console, but really likes the character it's designed after, could still enjoy it. I feel like, 3, 5, or 6 years down the line, people would see those comic about the current industry, maybe wont get the jokes that are being made. Or once this generation is up, would we just forget about the characters or designs? So Instead I wanted to, maybe, take the characters, and their personalities that everyone likes. and put them in situations you'd actually see characters in. and have them react accordingly. So that even if the next generation comes, you could still enjoy the characters themselves. And maybe take what happens in the industry, and turn those into situations. For example, how the Wiiu isnt, maybe selling so well. Have U-tan's Cafe not do so well, or getting slow business. So she needs to find a way to garner attention, and business.sorry If I'm not making any sense here, or if I'm losing anybody. I'm a bit wiped from studying all day.
