Your thread sucks!
This is now an Undertale thread.

Okay cool, I can talk about Undertale
>Played the Demo in 2014
>imagining what it would be like to continue the quest forward
I honestly was expecting a harder pacifist run, where you would have to do a lot more diverse things before a boss to ensure you could spare them..not just At the boss, having the option always available.
another thing was I was expecting to do a lot more hiding during a pacifist run, with the monsters actually looking to murder you (rather than accidentally) and I thought Flowey was actually the King of all Monsters, but in a magical flower-form
i remember in the demo, Flowey says something about a Monarch, so it got me thinking that the protagonist would eventually become the king of monsters

When I got ArmA 2 i was expecting something grounded and challenging, instead I got motorcycles covered in sandbags that were resistant to anti material rounds.
Twilight princess had the most interesting beta areas. Final game was pretty good, but I was still let down.

I remember reading about Halo: CE years ago and after just getting off Tribes at the time, i imagined it would be much closer to Tribes or Quake than anything. Was Halo and CoD the tipping point away from Arena Shooters? are we ever going to get back to that level of skill?

Sometimes it was, sometimes it wasn't. People back then they definitely knew what they were talking about better than today even if they weren't experts. Instead now you just have people hired to be personalities that don't care about games, or using them for their agenda. Back then you had awkward nerds that actually knew games.
But yeah, I got my hands on Soldier of Fortune after reading about in magazines and it blew me away all the different ways you could shoot people to make them go down.

We could honestly switch the thread to just talking about the paid journalism
Years back I went on to /v/ expecting video games discussion.I would rather not add to the problem. Test builds for things like N64 games were always so amazing to see in magazines, and even though I know we got better/more polished things I would have loved to see and try some things like the original teasers for Zelda
Smash Bros. Brawl.
I was so hype, seeing the remade graphics, demoing contents on their site, reading about it.
...and then...
>trip mechanism
>my favorite character captain falcon feels like a wet noodle
>getting my ass beat by friends playing meta knight and spamming B
>shit physics
New Nintendo makes me cry
DK64.
After Banjo I was expecting more of that but better, with DKC's music. How could it be bad? It needed the Expansion Pack to run so it must have been huge, right?
I couldn't believe how wrong I was. That game was a mess from day 1...
this picture is fucking relevant to this thread
WHY has this happened? Why would anyone go Backwards?

Fucking THIS
Banjo had great concepts behind everything, but DK64 was just sloppy.. It made BK a must-buy, and DK-64 a must-rent
>playable dedede cut from being playable in the main story, only a power-up for kirby in 3 segments
>playable adeleine cut from being playable in the main story, mechanics unknown
>playable waddle dee cut from being playable in the main story, mechanics unknown
>several mini games cut
>a few abilities cut (the computer chip transformation is the only known example, but something like "technology" was probably a base ability that could mix with others)
>animal friends cut (were they minigame characters? we'll never know)
What a huge loss.

I still had fun with DK64, but BJ was definitely better, and the flaws are really obvious. Even just reducing the collectibles and not making you do everything 5 times would have improved it significantly.

Stop anon, you're making Undertale fans look bad.

Thats the point
When did people on this board lose the ability to detect trolling?

Undertale fans already make themselves look bad enough, they don't need help
