How much longer until this picks up? I've got a couple of spell cards and my guys have learned some moves. Battles are easy if you just do auto-weapon though.

It took awhile for me to get into the game, but I'd say it picked up around the mall dungeon when you figure out how making Personas works. Just as a protip, try to get Personas that have Gravity, Nuclear, or Almighty damage spells. Also, get the character's ultimate Personas when you can. They help a lot, and the MC's breaks the final boss.

2's combat is pretty boring. At least in 1 you had guns and getting cards for fusing was much easier. If they just had 1's card system, it would have made the game so much better. The combination spells were interesting, but they should have found a better way to use them. Just spamming them every battle got really boring, and one thing P3 did really well was introduce rewards for using an enemy's weakness against them, which 2 didn't have.

The gameplay in 1 is solid. Lots of ways to strategize and go about how you want to take on things in battles, as well as enemy and party placement. You'll start to like it more if you're a fan of traditional cRPGs.
